A Solid Look At The New Millenium's First Decade
zkonedog20 August 2018
CNN always does a good job with these "decade" documentaries (60s, 70s, 80s, etc.), and that carries right over into this look at "The 2000s".

Covering politics, current events of the period, music, film, television, and pop culture of all kinds, this docuseries looks at the 2000s from a number of different angles. It's never boring, and the production values are very high. It's nice that at a lot of times (especially during the political sections), they talk to the figures themselves who were making the news in that decade.

The only reason I can't give this the full 10/10 treatment? It's too bad that the non-HD footage of the time period couldn't have been upgraded. When all the interviews and current footage are sparkling HD, it really stands out when the non-HD material shows up. I'm sure cost was likely the issue here, but still it was often very noticeable and jarring.

Overall, though, "The 2000s" was a fun journey through the decade in which I graduated both high school and college. Both in terms of nostalgic and historical value, this one can be watched for either reason and enjoyed accordingly.

Unnecessarily blurry archival footage

This may be minor as the whole series is really great, but I noticed all the archival film footage is shown as blurry. I didn't notice it as much in the other decades because I assumed quality of film was not as great in the 80s and 90s, but when you get into the last decade, picture quality was not much different as it is now - this should be accurately portrayed!

Well done documentary series of the decade of technology, terrorism and much more!
blanbrn25 August 2018
Again "CNN" has a winner with it's decade series as "The 2000's" scored a touchdown for it's footage and clips and interviews with the experts about the happenings and pop culture trends of the new millennium. You name it covered was the new golden age of TV as the shows like "Mad Men", "The Sopranos", and many others were bold and blunt art house TV that was a must watch.

Also covered was "911" and the rise of terrorism and the Bush years of his narrow win over Al Gore and his 2004 victory over Kerry as he stayed the course in Iraq. Also the drama and disgraceful wall street meltdown which broke millions was spotlighted. The rise of Obama and his 2008 election victory as John McCain was destroyed by a lady named Sarah.

Plus to top it off it showed how the digital age of computers, laptops, I phones, face book, twitter, Instagram, and face time controlled one's means of communication. Overall it was the new era and new age of different things and ever changing times.

Nostalgia extravaganza galore!

Man, I wish I was born early enough to have been old enough to appreciate the the great decade of the 2000s and be able to remember it better now. So much I missed out on.

Makes me paranoid!
UniqueParticle4 March 2019
Quite a bit of info I was unaware of, cause I try to stay out of it, like a lot of the political stuff, and the stock market I knew a portion of, and the pop culture stuff was fascinating/brings back memories in some ways. I don't know how a lot of people can toughen through so much in these events or watching them. It disturbs me at the same time though very informative looks into how technology has grown in a scary way, how corrupt or brainwashed some people are. It's truly outrageous the grim things the world goes through over the years. I hope people at least give this a chance unlike 1 guy who only put up with a couple minutes of it; get woke to this Matrix metaphorical world we live in.

Watching this just made me realize....again.....how big of a moron George W Bush is. He really messed up our country with his 8 years in office. Thanks Bush.

Prepare for propaganda
brookemstone25 October 2019
This is an interesting series, with some fun nostalgic moments. But don't think for a second this isn't completely and so obviously biased-even the music score plays into their agenda during the political episodes. However, since "truth" is no longer a term the media is concerned about I knew what we would be getting into when we started.

Pretty good

Nostalgic, accurate, reminiscent. Great little program. Pretty slanted and anti-republican/anti-conservative when it covers those issues, whatever. It's CNN factor that by default.

Was really loving this....until
beckysluss9 March 2019
Hey, I'm 41, so the 2000's were some great years for me. I was really enjoying this mini series (even the tough stuff to remember, Bush v. Gore, 9/11, Cheney), and then then you let Evan Thomas speak and say "mommy party", the "softer" and weaker party, and "daddy party" who "goes out and fights the war." (regarding the 2004 election). Shame on you Mr. Hanks. You lost 8 stars for that BS. Looking back on the 70's, 80's and 90's on Netflix, the whole things reeks of male perspective; much like the history we all learn in school and from the media. I'll take a hard pass.
