Loquareeous hugs the police officer while pleading for help and is later shown to be a headline story in the newspaper. This is a recreation of the famous "Hug felt around the world" when Devonte Jordan hugged a police officer during the nationwide Ferguson protests and the photo became a phenomenon. The episode loosely adapts his story through the character of Loquareeous.
Loquareeous when celebrating the class going to see Black Panther 2 does several of the dance moves from the "This Is America" music video that were performed by Donald Glover.
The episode won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series (Half-Hour).
Both times Loquareeous is at home watching TV, he's watching American Dad. The first time he's watching the episode "Cops and Roger" (S5.E14); the scene where Roger uses his elbow to smash and obliterate crooked cop Chaz Migliaccio's head. The second time it's the episode "Delorean Story-an" (S4.E16), where Steve and Stan are taking a roadtrip in Stan's Delorean to pickup the passenger side door.
The class was allowed to watch Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) for free. There was a similar campaign for inner-city youths to watch Black Panther (2018), called the Black Panther Challenge, which was funded through a GoFundMe page initiated by American Author Frederick Joseph . To date over 300 Black Panther Challenges have been issued and raised over $43 million . With tickets at $13, they have raised enough money to send about 75,000 kids to see the Black Panther in theaters, children in every state and 25 countries. "Black Panther" film was considered by various subject matter experts, as a celebration of "Black Culture", a way to raise awareness of "Black Exceptionalism".
