This season was a very long drawn out whodunnit. They did a decent job since everyone looked guilty at some point. But I think they had the chance for such a poetic deep ending and they dropped the ball.
We've been motivated to hate Bryce since the series beginner. He managed to escape justice because he's Bryce. But at the end of his life, he was turning into a decent human being, or at least trying to be. I found myself actually feeling bad for him a few times but I do love a character transformation. We see all the terrible things he did to everyone and at one point I thought I had it figured out, which WOULD have been awesome. "Everybody killed Bryce." His realization of what he's done and how he's hurt people and his rejected attempts to make amends push Bryce to end his own life. The perfect parallel to Hannah's suicide and her tapes explaining how everyone played a part or "killed Hannah."
But that's not how this played out and although I thought the actual guilty party was anti-climactic, I gave the episode 7 stars because of how this group of friends pulled off what they did. Listening to Ani talk for an entire season got old but when the A-HA moment came, it was at least understood. Also explained all those times the viewer knew she was lying and had her pegged for the murder.
So kudos for the tangled web this group of evil geniuses wove, but that just covered up the very vanilla truth.
Oh and I also think the Certificate of Adoption should have been presented to Justin during the Thanksgiving scene. Another opportunity missed!
