Call out my name

The video features Abel as he walks alone down deserted streets, deserted stages and deserted forrest, all while encounters animals such as bison, hyena, leopard and antelope and also a strange creature with human body and a hawk's beak.

The Cinematography is excellent; the camera work is great, some spinning and tilting example when Abel is singing on the empty stage, the camera spins rapidly that's to tell us how Abel is feeling inside; disoriented and he has lost proper direction when his lover left him. There's also the color blue throughout the video, which is a common color for portraying sadness.

I like how the video is synced well with song eg the scene where after he enters into the screen and to the wildness, the aspect ratio changes as the snare hits, which is brilliant. Also when he sings "so call out my name" with a distorted voice, you can see how they show it visually, with rapid camera tilts and use of good lighting.

The costumes is well-done; Abel is dressed in overall black, which reflects the dark place he's at. The make-up effects is good esp the mysterious bird woman in the video. In fact, the director incorporate symbolisms throughout the video, while some are easy to get like the bats, the others are so incomprehensible that I think it's only the director and Abel will ever know what they mean. The production design is also wonderful; the inside of the spaceship looks like something out of a high-budgeted sci-fi movie. And the empty streets is a good idea as it signifies Abel's loneliness.

All In all, A well-directed, and technically brilliant video and a fitting visual for the song's melancholic vibe.
