Los Angeles, Feb 14 (Ians) Singer-songwriter Justin Bieber turned down Usher’s offer to perform at the Super Bowl VIII Halftime show.
The ‘R’n’B superstar pulled out all the stops for his performance halfway through the major sporting spectacle at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, reports Female First UK.

A source told PageSix: “There’s no bad blood between Usher and Justin. Justin just wasn’t up for it — he just wasn’t feeling it”. Usher played a major role in the launch of Justin’s career in the late 2000s after record executive Scooter Braun had spotted the teenager singing on YouTube and convinced the ‘Yeah!’ hitmaker to meet with the budding star.

Millennials, prepare to feel very old. You probably already do as time inexorably marches on – but any anxieties you have about losing your edge are about to be exacerbated by the first trailer for Mean Girls. “Ah!”, we hear you cry, “but the very recent movie :a[Mean Girls]{href='https://www.empireonline.com/movies/reviews/mean-girls-review/' target='_blank' rel='noreferrer noopener'} already exists!” Until we point out that the seminal teen movie – in which formerly homeschooled-in-Africa kid Cady Heron moves to a regular American high school and learns some intense lessons on cliques – actually came out nearly 20 years ago, and there’s a whole kid generation who were barely even alive when it first hit the screen. So, yes, Mean Girls is back in cinematic form – except, this version is a film adaptation of the hit stage musical, bringing the Plastics into pop mode. Not that this...

When Josh Hutcherson was cast in "Five Nights at Freddy's," it just made sense. Director and co-writer Emma Tammi's film adaptation of the lore-heavy hit horror video game franchise has the actor playing Mike Schmidt, an Average Joe who takes a job as the night security guard at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, unaware of that tiny issue where the entertainment center's animatronic mascots come to life and begin massacring people after midnight. Mike himself is the type of archetypical hero Hutcherson is best known for portraying; a humble everyman who must rise to the occasion in the face of extraordinary circumstances.
In a way, Hutcherson's unlikely transformation into one of this century's major genre movie and TV actors began with his first feature film, "American Splendor." One of the best comic book adaptations ever made, the film carries over the meta-narrative and autobiographical elements of Harvey Pekar's source material,...

Intro: Just like any successful movie franchise from any particular decade, there’s one unwritten rule; if it’s much loved, generated enough in box office returns, and is clearly still a relevant IP, you know what to eventually expect. Yup, that’s right movie-fans – a remake! Love em’ or loathe em’ they’re not going away anytime soon, and sometimes they can not only offer a fascinating take on the original movie but also enhance the legacy by bringing in a whole new audience. 1982’s The Thing is an incredible remake of the 1951 original, along with similarly effective fellow horror remake The Fly from 1986. Also, more recently we’ve had gems such as Martin Scorsese’s The Departed, the hugely popular A Star is Born and, of course, The Wicker Man. Okay, maybe not that particular example, but Nicolas Cage randomly punching people in a bear suit has to hold some value to movie-fans,...

As Fire Country Season 1 showed, Vince Leone (Billy Burke) is more than a firefighter, husband, and father: He’s also a fantastic singer — and Burke is all for that happening again next season. “We talked about it initially when we were doing that episode. The general thought was kind of like, well, if we do this once, kind of have to do it again down the road someplace, right?” he laughed when talking to TV Insider about the Season 1 finale. “So yeah, I would love for that to happen.” In “Mama Bear,” Vince, alongside his brother Luke (Michael Trucco), performs “Burn,” an original song of Burke’s, at the bar. Singing “is pretty much what I spend all my spare time doing,” Burke said, and the writers and producers knew that. But when that episode was written, there wasn’t a song in mind for the scene. Its writer,...

Ellie Goulding is super proud of her new album Higher Than Heaven.
The singer chatted to Et Canada’s Morgan Hoffman about the release, with the host asking how creating new music during a lockdown, as well as having a baby, was.
Goulding, who welcomed son Arthur with husband Caspar Jopling in 2021, said of how much all of the above influenced her as an artist while creating new music: “I think it did the opposite to what you’d expect. I think maybe there’s a slight delay in my reaction to the pandemic and becoming a mum.
“Obviously, it’s such a profound and ginormous change in your life that it’s impossible for that to not affect you as a writer. You know, your brain is going to be a universe instead of like, I don’t know, a planet.

A couple weeks ago, Full Moon founder Charles Band announced that the Demonic Toys series will continue with another spin-off film that focuses on just one of the evil toys. After making Baby Oopsie, Baby Oopsie 2: Murder Dolls, and Baby Oopsie 3: Burn Baby Burn, writer/director William Butler is now diving into a different Demonic Toys spin-off: Demonic Toys: Jack Attack. Production is underway in Cleveland, Ohio, and the Full Moon YouTube channel has posted a short video that gives us a quick glimpse behind-the-scenes.
In this video, we get to see how Jack Attack is going to look in his solo outing, and we meet one of his unfortunate victims.
Demonic Toys: Jack Attack plot details are being kept under wraps, but Band shared that “It’s gonna be another Billy Butler mad movie, sparing no expense with death and weirdness and teeth and biting.” Full...

Detroit-manufactured Bruce Campbell is a cult legend who sawed his way into every genre. Evil Dead Rise, the fifth installment of the franchise most associated with the actor, opens a new book on April 21, and it will be the first not to lead with his chin. He isn’t taunting the sacred geometry of the “Necronomicon Ex-Mortis,” Campbell was busy. He is always busy. He has authored novels, comic books, and screenplays, and has directed productions on big screens and small. Campbell is the star attraction of several franchise fandoms, beloved at the Comic-Con circuit and, believe it or else, crooned Duran Duran’s “Hungry Like the Wolf” for an Old Spice commercial, besides hosting the short-lived Ripley’s Believe It or Not.

Usher’s got it bad for Las Vegas.
The Grammy-winning star, who is currently performing in Sin City for Usher: My Way The Vegas Residency, says he’s moved to Vegas for music — and also for his family.
“I began to curate my own little world here, so much so that I’ve actually put a flag in the ground. I’ve actually moved here,” he told THR. “For one year I’ve been here. I’m not saying that this is the end-all-be-all, but I have a place here so I can accommodate my family.”
The residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM has earned rave reviews, and he returns to the stage Friday. And this week he announced 15 new dates for June and October, with tickets going on sale Saturday.

It feels just like last month we were complimenting Hulu on its true crime offerings. Well, with its list of new releases for February 2023, Hulu is staying in the true crime lane. Suppose that’ll happen when you push back the release date of a series or two.
February sees the arrival of three notable true crime series on Hulu. Taiwan Crime Stories premieres on Feb. 1 and presents four true tales from Taiwan’s criminal “dark underbelly.” That will be followed by ABC News Studios’ Killing County on Feb. 3. That three-episode series ponders the question “what happens when police kill?” The most interesting true crime offering premieres on Feb. 9. That’s when Stolen Youth: Inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence College shares its four-episode saga of Larry Ray and the young college students he victimized.

This Region-Free import gives us both versions of Gillo Pontecorvo’s fictional tale of colonial misdeeds that sums up old Europe’s attitude toward the New World. Marlon Brando’s agent provocateur and freebooting soldier of fortune foments revolution against the Portuguese and then hires out to reverse everything he’s done for English interests. The big scale production was filmed in several locations across the globe; it has a standout performance from Evaristo Márquez as a charismatic peasant eager to become a conqueror.

Solea Pfeiffer was on the phone with Don Cheadle about a possible appearance on his Showtime series Black Monday when another call came in. She ignored it. The 27-year-old actress didn’t end up working with Cheadle, but she did land a lead role in A Jazzman’s Blues, a period drama directed by Tyler Perry, who happened to be the unidentified caller.
A Jazzman’s Blues marks Pfeiffer’s first feature film after being lauded for her stage performances in the original national tour of Hamilton and Gustavo Dudamel’s West Side Story production at the Hollywood Bowl. In October, she stars as Penny Lane in the Broadway premiere of Almost Famous.
Perry’s film, set in the 1940s American South, tells the tragic tale of a young woman who is forced by her mother to pass as white and leave behind the Black man she loves.

Samaritan is a new urban superhero action movie directed by Julius Avery and written by Bragi F. Schut. The film stars Sylvester Stallone, Dasha Polanco (Orange Is the New Black), Javon “Wanna” Walton (Euphoria) and Pilou Asbæk (Uncharted). This gritty story starts with promise, but the pacing comes to a screeching halt early on and never recovers. The cast is a solid mix of talented actors, but the script’s limitations restrict them. When stripped down to the basics, Samaritan is a colorless venture that’s very much been there, done that, especially for Stallone.
The cold, dank, post-apocalyptic location of Granite City needs heroes. The city’s people are stuck between two factions: those who idolize the costumed hero, the Samaritan, and those who worship the volatile supervillain, Nemesis — these two are identical twins. The following contains spoilers for Star trek: discovery
Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 Episode 4
It’s not yet clear whether “All is Possible ” will really be Sylvia Tilly’s goodbye on Star Trek Discovery, especially since the episode makes such a strong case for the necessity of her perspective and worldview. In many ways, her character is a kind of personification of what makes Star Trek as a concept so appealing, just a big-hearted, open embrace of possibility along with a nerdy love of science and seemingly boundless faith in the innate goodness of others. The idea of the Discovery without her – and the show without the talents of Mary Wiseman – is legitimately upsetting and, quite frankly, just feels wrong.
Yet, Discovery has been remarkably honest about Tilly’s struggles to adjust ever since the crew arrived in the 32nd century and her recent elevation to lieutenant has revealed how deeply unhappy she truly is,...

Clemens, whose new role is not yet official, would not have the exact same role and title as McNamara. For starters, she would keep her title as head of Paramount TV Studios and would not take over all of McNamara’s duties. McNamara exited as Paramount+’s head of programming earlier on Thursday.
Reps for ViacomCBS declined to comment.
Tom Ryan, ViacomCBS’ president and CEO of streaming, hinted in his Thursday note regarding McNamara that the leadership structure for the content team would look a little different going forward. “I’ll have more to share in the coming weeks on our content structure and look forward to...

From the time Jorja Smith had just one song on SoundCloud to her current status as an R&b darling, the singer has weaved social commentary into her tales of youth, self, and love. At 17, she wrote her first single, 2016’s “Blue Lights,” to recognize the fear of police and proximity to crime that black people experience. On the debut album that followed, “Blue Lights” precedes “Lifeboats (Freestyle),” a rapped-sung hybrid about economic inequality. Last summer, she released “By Any Means” as a contribution to the Black Lives Matter movement,...

Courteney Cox knows how to keep the Friends nostalgia alive. On Feb. 17, the actress played the all too familiar theme song of the '90s sitcom, "I'll Be There For You" by The Rembrandts, on her piano, complete with the iconic claps. Musician Joel Taylor accompanied Cox on the guitar, and together, the duo nailed it. "How'd I do?" she asked fans in her caption.
This isn't the first time the Friends star has shown off her musical talents. In the past she's teamed up with her 16-year-old daughter, Coco Arquette for duets, with Cox on the piano and Arquette on vocals. The two covered a mix of songs, from Demi Lovato's "Anyone" to "Burn" from Hamilton. I guess Cox's Friends cover has to hold us over while we wait for the much anticipated reunion, which has...
