The first injured party discusses the loss of his batch of dough and one of the medics mentions that he must be going into shock. Severely, and even moderately, injured people often focus on something other than the injury as a way to refrain from focusing on the pain. This is a common tactic both by the injured party (if unconsciously) and by the attending medics (on purpose) and should not have been mistaken here.
