- TriviaActor/stuntman Quentin Sondergaard almost drowned while performing a stunt for this episode. He dove over the side of the destroyer Stembel during filming off the coast of San Diego. He was to swim towards a waiting manned raft, but the sea current took him out to sea instead. A small whaling boat was outfitted with a motor and lowered from the Stembel, but the tiller on the motor broke. A member of the crew got an oar and used it to row out to Sondergaard, who by this time was a mile and a half away from the destroyer. Sondergaard had been in the 50-degree water for over an hour but was safely rescued. The camera had been rolling all the time, so the script was re-written to include the rescue.
