Penultimate Series Episode Is A Hoot!

I am so sad to see this series ending so abruptly. But it is ending on a great note! Ash VS Evil Dead is ending it's run with what has been another solid season. Can't wait for the finale next weekend!

"taste good"

It was nice to see & hear Katrina Hobbs again.

Arielle Carver-O'Neill's finally shown the 2nd (a real one) move of Slashy Jr.

-Lucy Lawless = -1/3 of the show, even though it's called "ASH...". Let's see how the rest part will pass away...

Inventive

Warning: Spoilers
This penultimate episode of the show focuses on a set-piece surrounding Ash's daughter, who turns out to be a chip off the old block. It certainly relies on homaging too many of the old one-liners from the films but it's quite inventive and energetic in other respects.

What happened?

This show used to be soooo stylish. Season 2 was a festival of gore and comedy. And season 3 is just falling apart. It can't be the actors fault who used two be great in the first two seasons. But the acting suddenly is strange, the editing looks bad, the script is boring... What happened? It feels like no one responsible was interested in making the show anymore...

The dark ones arrive.

Arriving at the penultimate episode of Ash vs Evil Dead, I'm finding it hard to come up with new ways to write about the show; similarly, the writers of the show seem to be struggling to come up with new and creative ways to keep things interesting.

The unimaginatively titled Judgement Day is a forgettable mix of demons, deadites and dark ones that really feels like it is treading water until the final show. It says a lot about this one that the most memorable moment is when Brandy's mobile phone turns into a very silly looking creature and bites her thumb off. It's memorable because it's so bloody stupid.

Let's hope they go out in a blaze of glory for the final episode: chuck in as much bad taste humour and as many messy gore effects that the budget will allow.

5.5/10, rounded up to 6 for IMDb.
