Anime fans are familiar with Shinichiro Watanabe from his renowned work on Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, but his latest creation helps bridge the gap between Ridley Scott's Blade Runner and Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049, and you can watch it right now before the new Blade Runner movie comes out in theaters this October.
Black Out 2022 synopsis: "In 2022, an Emp detonation has caused a global blackout that has massive, destructive implications all over the world. Shinichiro Watanabe who created some of the most renowned anime series like 'Cowboy Bebop' and 'Samurai Champloo,' is directing a short Blade Runner anime. The short 'Blade Runner Black Out 2022' takes place a few years after the first movie and is set during a power outage.
