The marionette puppets were inspired by the character Lil' Penny, a miniature puppet version of Penny Hardaway of whom Chris Rock provided the voice on a series of Nike commercials in the mid-1990s. Blackstreet incorporated the puppets as an inside joke about how various people told members Chauncey Hannibal and Eric Williams that they looked like Hardaway, who was playing for the Orlando Magic at the time of production.
