Rob’s record shop is closed for good: Hulu has cancelled High Fidelity after just one season, our sister site Deadline reports.
The decision was reportedly not an easy one, and the cast’s options were extended an extra month to allow for more deliberation, but Hulu ultimately decided not to go ahead with a second season. The chances of the show finding another home are “considered a long shot,” per Deadline.

Chris Meloni has been enjoying his career in the nine years after he left “Law & Order: Svu.” From “True Blood” to “Pose” to “Handmaid’s Tale,” among many other projects,” he has really shown range.
Just take a look at his latest series “Maxxx,” streaming on Hulu. In the British comedy, the show’s creator O.T. Fagbenle stars as the title character, a washed-up former boy band star who enlists a legendary music manager named Don Wild (Meloni) to help him make a comeback. Meloni transformed into the hard-partying Don by dying his hair jet black and wearing tons of jewelry and outrageous outfits, including a kilt.
In one of the show’s most eye-popping scenes, Maxxx has a threesome with Don and his wife. Their bedroom romp includes the use of a very large sex toy. “Thank God we had rehearsals because that’s where we really let it rip,...

The Handmaid’s Tale alum O-t Fagbenle is staging his comeback — or more like his grand debut as a rising actor who can do more than hang in the shadow of Elisabeth Moss’ tour-de-force performance. Fagbenle, who may be best known to U.S. viewers as the put-upon husband of Moss’ character in The Handmaid’s Tale, is starring in a […]

O-t Fagbenle has never been a member of a boy band… despite the mountain of photographic and video evidence that suggests otherwise.
The new British comedy Maxxx — which Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale) wrote, executive-produced and stars in — follows the titular former member of a pop group called Boy Town who is trying to make his solo musical comeback. The show often gives its audience flashes of Maxxx’s Boy Town heyday, which means viewers get a lot of music-video footage, teen-mag photo shoots and the like.

O-t Fagbenle’s six-episode comedy series “Maxxx” makes quite a statement when it says, “The only way for a Black man to stay safe is to become famous.”
It is quick and witty in the moment of the show about a former boy band member trying to reclaim fame, which Fagbenle wrote two years ago and was in production on in 2019, but it takes on even more poignancy now that the show is finally launching in the U.S. “Maxxx” premieres July 28 on Hulu after weeks of Black Lives Matter protests and calls for justice and police reform in the wake of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd’s (among other) murders. Its U.S. home comes from an acquisition; “Maxxx” was originally created for Channel 4 in the U.K. and aired there this past spring.

Exclusive: O-t Fagbenle’s British comedy Maxxx, which also stars Law & Order: Svu’s Christopher Meloni, is heading to Hulu on June 2.
The streamer acquired the six-part series from All3Media International. Somewhat interestingly, it will premiere all episodes of the show before the show completes its full run in the UK.
The series, which was written, co-directed, exec produced and stars The Handmaid’s Tale’s Fagbenle, premiered on the UK’s E4, the youth-skewing network run by Channel 4. However, it was subsequently pulled from the schedules, replaced by repeats of U.S. comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine and removed from the company’s digital catch-up service All4 and will now air later in the year.
The series centers around a formerly famous boyband star Maxxx, played by Fagbenle, who tries to make his music comeback in a bid to win back his famous supermodel ex-girlfriend, played by Jourdan Dunn, and...
