Jamie Chung said in an interview that she had no problem being completely naked for her first ever nude scene in episode six of the first season because physicality is so important to her character. But she joked that she still doesn't want her parents to watch. She specifically told them, "I'm so proud of my work, but please, for the love of God, just don't."
The series is based on Matt Ruff's 2016 novel, but its title refers to its reframing of the bizarre pulp fiction work of writer H.P. Lovecraft who died in poverty in 1937.
Elizabeth Debicki was originally cast as Christina Braithwhite, but had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict with Tenet (2020). The role later went to Australian actress Abbey Lee.
During filming of season 1 in Elburn, IL, a stunt car tipped. One camera operator was in a pod on top of the car. He was taken to the hospital with non-lethal injuries.
