In 2010, 'National Geographic' named Le Mans the greatest sporting event in the world, above the Olympics, the World Cup, and the Super Bowl.
Cycling hasn't always helped Mark Webber's' racing career. He crashed his mountain bike while leading the 2010 F1 Championship, badly fracturing his shoulder. Despite continuing to compete through the pain, his results fell away in the final races and he missed out on the overall win.
Mark Webber's accident at the 1999 Le Mans was one of the most controversial in the race's history. An error in calculating the aerodynamics of the car saw it take off and flip twice during the warm up laps with Mark Webber at the wheel. Despite clear evidence that the car was unsafe, manufacturer Mercedes continued in the race. Finally, a third flip for teammate Peter Dumbreck forced Mercedes
to withdraw.
Known as "the unluckiest man in motorsport", Mark Webber endured 130 races over seven years before recording his first victory, the longest wait for any Grand Prix winner.
