Before the first book was released, Fox acquired rights to Shatter Me set to adapt a film to be overseen by Emma Watts, Peter Kang and Daria Cercek and, be produced by Peter Chernin under 'Chernin Entertainment'. But as the primal book was released and sequels were set, the project disappeared; Until, it was June of 2015, almost four years and also having the book series completed, when Tahereh Mafi officially took to twitter that works on the project have resurfaced but, with another studio 'ABC Signature Studios'.
Tahereh Mafi announced in April 2017 that the trilogy will be having an expansion. Another three books are going to be released for the series. The fourth book titled "Restore Me" will hit shelves March of 2018.
Shatter Me is based on a best-selling trilogy novel, the second book being 'Unravel Me' and the third one being 'Ignite Me'.
Intervals between releases of the first book to the second and second to the third, Tahereh Mafi also released novellas 'Destroy Me' and 'Fracture Me'. These books take perspectives of Aaron Warner and Adam Kent respectively. Interestingly, these novellas carefully bridge the time lines and arch in between books and, as well as, intersecting with them.
