"A Fare" was an official selection of the 2016 LA Femme International Festival and Lady Filmmakers Festival, both in Beverly Hills, in addition to the Local Sightings Film Festival in Seattle. It was a finalist in the 2016 Austin Film Festival and in the 2017 Women in Film Festival.
"A Fare" played at the Palm Springs market in 2016 where it was bought by the Gaia Network. The prestigious Cleveland Film Festival also heard about "A Fare" at that market and contacted the filmmakers to ask it it could go directly into the finals of their festival and the Short Film Channel is also interested in the film.
Producer/Director Lily Hui got the idea for the film because of her father, still a world traveler at 85 years old. His friends tell him that he should settle down, stay home and rest. Hah! not happening. This film serves to remind seniors that they should never stop "living". Lily told screenwriter Pamela Jones her ideas for the film over dinner one night. Pamela wrote them down on a napkin and delivered a rough draft of the script a few days later.
