Writing 'Carrie' (2016)
**** (out of 4)
Excellent thirty-minute featurette with screenwriter Lawrence D. Cohen who pretty much takes you through every aspect of the movie CARRIE. Cohen starts off talking about his thoughts on the novel when he originally read it and then he goes into the offer of coming up with a screenplay. He even tells a great story about not being overly thrilled with Brian DePalma getting the director's job and how he was hoping for Roman Polanski. From here he talks about various changes that were made during shooting including trying to come up with the perfect ending. If you're a fan of CARRIE then you've probably seen countless specials, interviews or heard various commentaries but this featurette is certainly among the best things out there. Cohen really does a remarkable job at giving you a terrific idea of what every step of writing the screenplay was like and he goes into even greater detail about some of the changes that happened during the production. Fnas will certainly be treated to some very good stories here.
