This is supposed to be a silly movie and silly it was indeed. I appreciated it not being a cookie cutter overdone type of movie and I actually came to like the characters and crazy scenes. I say give it a chance, It's not pass out from laughing funny but it will entertain you.

I think I would have liked this film much more if I could have seen and heard it better. Throughout the movie, it was difficult to follow the action because virtually all scenes were dimly lit. Similarly, it was somewhat difficult to appreciate the dialog because the actors' voices were drowned out by ambient noise.

This is a British comedy horror with gory, brutal, bloody violence.
The protagonists are two sisters and two blokes who are long-time friends, one of them is almost 30 years old and still a virgin, the other is a very confident cocky guy.
The premise is an interesting idea where the girls are the villains. They are seen at the beginning brutally murdering two unsuspecting guys who they picked up and bring home for a 'good time!'
The objective for the girls is sacrifice 5 blokes (the last needs to be a virgin) to resurrect their dead father. The objective for the guys is go out, party, meet girls, and have sex before the birthday deadline.
The plot gets really crazy towards the end. Worth watching to see if the characters achieve their goals.

A double date itself can be a nice thing. Unless you are going on a date with someone wicked I guess. So we do get an introduction to our two female co-leads and know what they are capable of. And then we get a sort of Joey-Chandler combo with our male main characters (from the TV Show "Friends", in case you don't know those names). And there is a lot of humor amongst the horror.
There are some decent effects and quite a few of the jokes are really good. Not everything works good enough though to make this a top dog contender though. We do have a certain path, that is predictable, but I wouldn't hold this too much against the movie. You know from the get go, where this is leading. What it does is almost holding that fine line between horror and comedy throughout. If that is your thing, enjoy

Promising premise, disappointing delivery.
It starts well and hooks you in. Sadly, all the motivation to watch the film is lost after 20 mins. However, the viewer sticks to it while hoping it might get better. There was so much potential to be visually bonkers, it just falls flat. Michael Socha plays the most annoying and despicable lad.
While not a bad film, Double Date is sadly forgettable.
Special mention: the excellent soundtrack, Kelly Wenham kicks ass literally and Georgia Groome is full of charm.

This is your basic b horror movie. Plot not interesting whatsoever.
If they added comedy to this movie it would have been much more entertaining. Off the cuff it starts hinting comedy/horror but fades quickly to low budget action horror(but no scares horror)
Watchable but certainly not to watch again.

The first 15 Minutes are very good, but after that it gets boring.
The Actors did a good Job but the writing lacks in every Way.
Funny? I must missed it, but what was funny in this Movie? Maybe funny for 18 Year Old Teenager, but for the "older" Audience, it was not funny. Childish Jokes, nothing more.
Sure, its not a bad Movie, watchable and with good Actors. But dont expect a thrilling or funny 'Story.
Definately not an "over 6" Movie, more 4 or 5. Have seen better Movies with worser Ratings.

A genuinely funny British comedy-horror

Going into this one I have to admit being a little wary. I thought there would be a reasonable chance it could turn out to be a bit of a misfire. After all, British comedy-horror isn't the most reliable of sub-genres. I have to say though, right from the outset I was more than pleasantly surprised. The opening credits began with some cool stylised red on black drawings that suggested a bit of care and effort – this early indicator proved to be accurate as what transpired was a genuinely funny movie with some great characters and a little bit of sex appeal thrown in for good measure. The story focuses on a couple of friends Jim and Alex, the latter of which tries to help his friend lose his virginity before he turns thirty. Enter a couple of beautiful murderous femme-fatales called Kitty and Lulu, who don't take long to raise the temperature considerably.
This one benefits from an actual funny script written by Danny Morgan who also plays the hapless Jim. He puts in a thoroughly amusing performance here it has to be said, in particular his chat-up scene early in proceedings being a particular bit of comedy acting gold. He is well supported by Michael Socha as his more confident, yet still essentially idiotic, friend Alex. Both these characters play the comedy really well here and have great chemistry. They are complimented well by their leading ladies. Georgia Groome is Lulu, the less demented of the pair, who works as a good comic foil for Jim, while the almost unfeasibly gorgeous Kelly Wenham plays the deadly seductress Kitty in a very commandingly sexy performance which adds a nice bit of sensuality to compliment the general hilarity that makes up most of what is going on elsewhere. While it is a comedy-horror, the horror side is much more marginalised with it really only going into hyper-drive during the crazed ending scene which gives a knowing nod to the classic 70's shocker The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974). This finale mixes the humour and horror really well but most of the rest of the time its pure comedy all the way, such as the uproarious family birthday party, the visit to Alex's dad's pad and the aforementioned bar-room chat-up scene. Basically, this is a film that shows that you can take well-worn genre material and make it work if you take care to write funny material and have good comic actors to deliver the lines effectively. Oh, and having Kelly Wenham in your film doesn't harm it either.

His friend Alex (Michael Socha) wants to change all of that and is determined to make sure that he gets Jim laid before his approaching 30th birthday. Both men think their luck is in when they meet beautiful sisters Kitty (Kelly Wenham) and Lulu (Georgina Groome). However, appearances can be deceptive and it turns out that Jim and Alex are being lined up as the next victims of the sisters who are otherwise known as the Maneaters...
Although Double Date has a rather brutal opening sequence it does, at least for a short time, present a rather stock set-up to its story; awkward virgin wants to get laid but doesn't know how to go about it so he enlists advice from his more cocksure friend (whom it seems is overtly reliant on bravado rather than any genuine appeal to the opposite sex). To an extent this works because Jim is a nice guy and therefore he is a character that I found myself being able to get on side with. Alex is slightly less likeable, but to be fair I did feel that he was more misguided than anything and I did feel that he genuinely cared for Jim. Things take a darker turn when the girls are introduced to the story and it's ironic that it's Jim's lack of sexual experience/sex appeal that draws the girls towards him - they need a virgin as their final sacrifice in order to bring their dad back to life (that's the bonkers part of the story). What basically follows from this point onwards is a bit of a mad 'comedy horror' film; to its credit it does both of these things rather admirably. The comedy aspects of the film mostly come from Alex and Jim whose conversations at times don't feel like they'd be out of place in an American Pie film. These things are juxtaposed with the girls who clearly bring out the sinister side of the story which provides a nice counter-balance to the frat boy humour.
Whilst Double Date is funny, dark, creepy and mostly on point it does go a little overboard in a few respects; the scenes at Jim's house were a bit cringe-inducing and not particularly funny. The whole storyline of sacrificing a virgin to bring their father back to life was totally nuts as well as being poorly explained - you have to see what happens at the end to understand what I'm getting at but trust me it is completely mental.
The performances from the main players aren't anything to write home about; they all do OK, but both Wenham and Socha both lay it on a bit thick in some of their scenes towards the end and did have a tendency to overact - although Wenham is sexy and sultry and it was a pleasant surprise to learn that she was born in Stockport which is where I was born and raised. Morgan and Groome are much more natural as the more normal two of the foursome who find themselves gradually being drawn to one another.

Whenever I watch comedy that's from England, it's usually funny and clever. I wasn't sure I'd like the movie just based on the plot. I honestly don't like the whole ''women kill men'' sub-genre, like Hard Candy or Tragedy Girls. But I gave it shot anyway. In order for a movie to work you have to like the lead characters. Unfortunately movies like these tend to write unbearable female characters, that are so over the top, that the film is unwatchable. This movie is neither funny or clever. it's very bland and one note. At one point it doesn't even seem like a horror movie, but more like a ''Double Date'' comedy between 4 people, who run into bizarre mishaps through out the night.
I know it's just a movie but these killers aren't even supernatural, how in the world are they able to overpower all these men? I don't care how many boxing classes you take, or if she has a knife, this is unrealistic. One scene literally shows this grown man running around in fear, while this scrawny 120lb chick is chasing him with a 2 inch blade. Ridiculous. It did redeem itself in the last 20 minutes, but I still wasted 60 minutes of my time.

This was actually nice. The plot seemed like something I wouldn't watch or like but I gave it a try anyway. It had some funny moments which made me burst out of laughter but yeah the storyline wasn't anything unique but it was still interesting to watch and it's something that can stay in your memory so I'd recommend it only for a one time watch.
If you think about the genre it's lackadaisical funny

Two guys go on a double date with two beautiful women who are in the occult, and witchcraft put the two guys in a position they had no idea of where they are coming into is a real date. In the end they bleed to death and trapped under the basement going through a ritual sacrifice to bring back the necromancy right from the dead. Obviously they survived through it as the other sister saves them. What a startling twist to the story.

What a gem this is. I'd admittedly never heard of it before I watched it. It's an absolute riot. So, so funny with a tadicum of gore thrown in now and then.
The cast is brilliant. The action is on point. And it runs along at a good old pace. I finished it and wouldn't have minded it being fleshed out a little more so I could have enjoyed it longer.

Sporting a robust head of ginger hair and the friendly physique of a not-quite couch potato, Jim (Danny Morgan) is the 29-Year-Old Virgin. He's led a sheltered life at home and struggles to talk coherently to women. His closest pal Alex (Michael Socha) is an idiot, but an idiot with a heart who desperately wants to help his friend achieve first contact before his 30th birthday. In due course, they meet two sisters (Kelly Wenham & Georgia Groome) who show them the night of their lives...
Written by the Danny Morgan and directed with elan by Benjamin Barfoot, the film's prologue is as much an attention grabber as you'll see with excesses of horrific stabbiness reminiscent of Paul Verhoeven's Basic Instinct, detouring into a blend of pitch-black comedy that pitches its tent as a curious fusion of post Tarantino grindhouse, graphic novel pop-culture junk and boy's own rom-com cheese. It didn't ought to work half as well as it does, but such is the enthusiasm and belief in the material by those involved that it frequently births surprises. Morgan's clever script services his characters well, often adding small moments of depth that can be oddly touching as well as outright hilarious.
As a screen duo Morgan and Socha share excellence, forging a bromance with an affectionately misplaced sense of purpose. Gyllenhaal-esque in appearance, Socha's naive stupidity is such a wittily played overcompensation (a bit like Jay in The Inbetweeners) that you can't help but hope he finds happiness. Though some of the humour is front-loaded with arm-flexing masculinity, its aim is to subvert that by demonstrating how fragile and needy men are when it comes to the question of their sexual potency.
As Kitty, Kelly Wenham is like Meagan Fox in Jennifer's Body, only far more deadly and adept, garbed in a pink satin kimono, kicking ass with a combo of psychotic kickboxing skills. In one jaw-dropping fight scene on the brink of becoming a sex scene, she unleashes all hell, flitting in-and-out of the role of predator and sexual aggressor, punching, kicking and snogging her way to a climax of something truly memorable. There's a sense of empowerment to Wenham's performance, that in terms of subtext, plays like a sexy woman's response to the one-note advances of your average 'bloke' on the pull. She's nothing short of electric (look up Barfoot's short film 'Fist' for more delightful eccentricity from Wenham and Danny Morgan).
Along with a cool soundtrack by Goat, there are many films mashed into Double Date, which might best be described as an irreverent romantic-comedy with huge dollop of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The dark humour is at twists wacky, with the affectionate screen partnership of Morgan and Soscha providing gutter-level laughs around pools of blood and an overtly sexy undertone. Razor-sharp and gruesomely funny.

Thoroughly enjoyed this fresh fast paced true return to British comedy horror. The soundtrack alone by psych band Goat is enough alone to make this a masterpiece but the stand out here is Kelly Wenham who plays psychotic Kitty with brilliant conviction.
I'm not sure which movie the first reviewer watched but this is my kind of movie and can't wait for Tales from the Lodge currently in post production.

This is one of the genuinely brilliantly funny films i have seen in a long time, all wrapped up in a good horror story.
The acting from all the cast members is superb who create believable characters you can relate to (and maybe even sympathise with on occasions).
Quite simply, this is a film to watch.

This is my new favourite film. It's absolutely brilliant. Such a surprisingly funny (it's hilarious) , well acted, sublimely written, directed and movie. A complete original. Best 90 mins I've ever spent in the cinema, a rare find - Highly, highly recommend.

LOVED IT! Absolute genius. Funny and scary and the writing/directing is awesome. The best comedy horror since Shaun of the Dead. Can't wait for the DVD so I can watch it again and again. Michael Socha is hilarious, Georgia Groome is brilliant and Kelly Wenham is terrifying! WATCH THIS FILM!
