As soon as Saw X, the tenth entry in the Saw franchise (you can read our review Here), was released last September, franchise producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules were already talking about the potential of a Saw XI. The official announcement came in December, along with a release date: September 27th. But over the last few months, the filmmakers have come to realize they need some extra time to make Saw XI something special, so the release has been pushed back a year, to September 26, 2025. So Lionsgate has unveiled a teaser trailer asking fans to play the waiting game, and you can check it out in the embed above.
Saw X screenwriters Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg (who also wrote Jigsaw and Spiral: From the Book of Saw) have let it be known that they’re not coming back for the new sequel, but Saw X director Kevin Greutert...

Lionsgate is shaking up its release slate, with two genre releases affected. While The Crow reboot gets a small delay, don’t expect sequel Saw XI to arrive this Halloween season.
Rupert Sanders’ The Crow is shifting from its June release date and is now set for August 23, 2024, Deadline reports.
Bill Skarsgård leads the cast of The Crow as Eric Draven, with FKA Twigs co-starring. Danny Huston (30 Days of Night) also stars, alongside Laura Birn (Foundation), Sami Bouajila (A Son), and Jordan Bolger (The Woman King).
In the new movie, “Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA Twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.

The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox is home to a variety of unique horror content, from originals and exclusives to cult classics and documentaries. With such a rapidly-growing library, there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
Ghost Killers vs. Bloody Mary
If bustin’ makes you feel good, Ghost Killers vs. Bloody Mary should be at the top of your queue. Imagine Sam Raimi remaking Ghostbusters from a Kevin Williamson script, and you have a pretty good idea of what this Brazilian horror-comedy is like: gory, self-aware, irreverent, and wildly entertaining.
When a local high school summons Bloody Mary, the Ghoulbusters — a team of local YouTubers with a cheesy ghost hunting show — are called in to take out the vengeful spirit. In addition to possessing people to the point of cranial combustion, the ghost exploits the high school setting by haunting inanimate objects,...

The long-running Saw franchise is headed back to the big screen this Halloween season, with the box office success of last year’s Saw X paving the way for this year’s Saw XI.
Bloody Disgusting can exclusively report this week that Saw X director Kevin Greutert will return to direct the upcoming Saw XI! In addition to Saw X, Greutert directed both Saw VI in 2009 and later Saw: The Final Chapter in 2010, along with the horror movies Jessabelle in 2014 and Jackals more recently in 2017. He also edited Saw I through V and Jigsaw.
This has to be considered very good news for Saw fans, as most felt that Saw X was a much-needed course direction for the franchise, finally bringing it back to the highs of the past. Greutert’s return to the twisted and bloody saga brought both Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) and Amanda (Shawnee Smith) back for a...

Late Night with Seth Meyers segment Corrections, a weekly summation of all of the things that the NBC late-night show has got wrong that week, is asking viewers for help to determine its Emmy submission.
The skit has been Emmy nominated twice for Outstanding Short Form Comedy, Drama or Variety Series twice, in 2021 and 2022, but lost out both times to James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke: The Series, which airs on Apple.
Now, Meyers is asking fans of Corrections, otherwise known as Jackals, for help to decide which episode to send to Emmy voters.
“Now’s a good time to remind you that Corrections is twice Emmy nominated and you just can’t take that away. No matter how bad it gets. We get to say that forever. I’ve been told in both times we’ve never won but we have finished second both times,” Meyers joked.

In the three years since Charlie Kaufman’s major 2020, which included the publication of his debut novel Antkind and the release of his first live-action film in over a decade, I’m Thinking of Ending Things, the writer-director hasn’t formally announced his next feature but he’s now released a new short. The 20-minute Jackals & Fireflies, shot by Blonde and BlacKkKlansman cinematographer Chayse Irvin on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra as part of a new campaign, is a lovely city symphony capturing modern-day New York City through the eyes of an observant, wistful protagonist.
Scripted by Eva H.D., who previously collaborated with Kaufman when her poem “bonedog” was featured in his last film, here’s the synopsis: “A woman wanders the streets of New York City, takes buses and trains, sits in bars and coffee shops, experiencing the city’s diverse neighborhoods, while thinking about her life, her loneliness, unrequited love.

Besides releasing a number of our favorite classic horror films and the occasional cult oddity, the good folks at Scream Factory are also releasing a number of contemporary horror films and giving them a home on Blu-ray. Here’s a look at three of their recent efforts:
Ten years after it was slated for release, The Poughkeepsie Tapes is finally available on Blu-ray thanks to Scream Factory. Would that it had remained buried. A found-footage “documentary”-style horror film, it chronicles a serial killer who has videotaped all of his crimes. The film is pieced together through interviews with people familiar with the case, as well as footage taken by the killer himself. Imagine the video camera scene from Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, only stretched to feature length and repellant for totally different reasons.
The sequence in Henry works because the film has earned that moment and because...

Rescuing a wayward son from the empowering nihilism of blood-cult life is easier said than done in Jackals, Kevin Greutert's under-siege thriller. Greutert, director of two late installments in the Saw franchise, offers little in the way of high-concept hooks here, simply pitting nonverbal, masked assailants against a terrified family who tries to keep them at bay. Its run-of-the-mill standoff may appease some hardcore horror buffs, but it offers nothing to the rest of us and will likely be forgotten before the blood on the ground dries.

Kevin Greutert (The Strangers) and Jared Rivet are the filmmakers behind the horror film Jackals. This title, slated for a September, release involves a cult and a young boy. Both the family and the cult vie for him. And, Jackals is reminiscent of Adam Wingard's You're Next, in costume and setting. As well, Jackals stars: Jonathon Schaech, Deborah Kara Unger and Stephen Dorff. The film's first trailer and poster are hosted here. The poster for the film was developed from an early still. The still and graphic show frozen characters, masked in fog. That axe is not for chopping wood. And, the tagline: "sacrifices must be made" reminds viewers of the blood to be spilled. Director Greutert also helmed Saw: The Final Chapter. Jackals is slated for a September 1st release. This title will show through Video-on-demand and in theatres, on this date. And, you can join the cult then,...
