Cliched Story/Awesome Animation

Using Pear Jam's music we are treated to a harsh view of evolution. It begins with the usual universal chomp that eventually gets us to the human animal. Then, it is evil that manifests itself and from then on it leads to the destruction of everything. This is well done but gosh awful depressing. Are we indeed dedicated to destroying everything we are--is this in our nature and are we plodding on toward it.

An excellent music video

I personally think this is one of the most memorable music videos ever made, with some rather haunting imagery.

Maybe its pessimistic view of history and mankind icould be seen as something a bit cliched, but personally I think anything else would have betrayed the spirit of the song.

The animation is also very well done, enhancing the bleak lyrics. It has a certain vibe of the animated sequences from Pink Floyd the Wall.

A gritty song that artistically showcases man's love for himself

Visual and auditory representation of man's love for himself. The death of compassion and a willingness to reject the concept of not having to atone for bad deeds in the afterlife as mankind has declared themselves to be the gods of the universe. Evolution and the Big Bang gives us a way to justify our evil as there is no reward to being our better selves. Humanity is the real fantasy. Hell exists on Earth and we do it to each other. But it's okay, it was really only ever supposed to be this way. It's Evolution baby!
