It’s been a long journey for the co-creators of Peacock‘s newest series MacGruber as the titular character transformed from an iconic Saturday Night Live sketch into a cult classic 2010 movie that all led to this 2021 show. But despite the more-than-10-year absence from people’s screens, Jorma Taccone and John Solomon have been busy at work cooking up ideas with Will Forte in an attempt to continue the mighty MacGruber‘s story. “We probably started just involuntarily throwing out ideas of what a sequel could be,” Solomon recalls. “And then Jorma actually wrote a sequel. And then a few years ago we figured out that we weren’t going to be able to make a MacGruber 2 that would be in theaters, so it became a TV series.” (Credit: Jesse Grant/Peacock) “We had an 11-year-old Google document because we do love the character and had been wanting...

Kristen Wiig is set to star in a film adaptation of “The Husbands,” a feminist thriller based on a novel by “Whisper Network” author Chandler Baker.
MGM acquired the rights to the novel for Plan B to produce as part of their ongoing production pact with the studio, and Wiig is also set to produce the film adaptation.
Baker will make her screenwriting debut adapting her own novel, which is due for release later this year and is described as a gender flip of “The Stepford Wives.” The story follows a successful woman who is struggling with her domestic duties as a mom and wife. But when she meets a group of other successful, high powered women, she notices that their husbands are all highly supportive and that something seems to be in the air in their community. When one of the husbands unexpectedly passes away, she begins to uncover...

Exclusive: Coming off the critical success of Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar, Oscar-nominated writers Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo will reteam on their first adventure with Disney: a live-action untitled Cinderella Evil Stepsisters film. Sources add that at this time it is unknown whether Wiig and Mumolo would also be starring in the film since it’s so early in development. Insiders also add that even if they were to appear in the film down the road, it wouldn’t be as the stepsisters as the plan is for them to be played by younger actresses.
The film is a fairy tale musical comedy that re-imagines the Cinderella classic from the point of view of her infamous evil stepsisters. Spanning their early childhood through the marriage of their universally beloved stepsister and beyond, we follow Anastasia and Drizella Tremaine as they struggle to uphold their family’s legacy.

Hollywood might not be known as the most patient of industries, but sometimes, good things do come to those who wait. Like “MacGruber” fans, who have spent the last decade beating the drum for a sequel to the Jorma Taccone-directed comedy, a cult classic that made less than $10 million when it was released in theaters but has continued to win fans for its ability to turn one “Saturday Night Live” sketch series into an actually viable feature-length film. Bolstered by a wacky charms of star and co-writer Will Forte, “MacGruber” is now poised to get another life, this time in the form of a television series that promises to be just as out-there and adult-oriented as its comically bloody cinematic predecessor.
“The state of ‘MacGruber’ right now is, we’re trying to see if somebody will let us make it as a TV series,” Forte said in a recent interview with IndieWire.

Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone are comedy trio The Lonely Island. Here are just some of their finest songs and sketches...
Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping was – yep, it’s time to call it - the funniest film of 2016. For those who blinked a little too long and didn’t catch it on its brief appearance in UK cinemas, the DVD release is your chance to find out what you’ve missed: a hilarious parody of current pop music’s excesses that blends acerbic criticism of predatory gossip shows and social media mobs with a sweet story of three feuding rappers struggling to mend their friendship. The fact that this touching tale also features Seal fending off a pack of wolves, Justin Timberlake dressed as a fish, and a bagpiper playing a lament at a beloved pet turtle’s Viking-inspired funeral comes as no surprise...
