The line "You see us as you want to see us" that is said during the investigation is actually a line from The Breakfast Club movie.
Episode centers around a theft ring which forms as a chance encounter at Saturday Detention in High School a la "The Breakfast Club"
The "Breakfast Club" consisted of the following stock characters: jock, prom queen, nerd, misfit and the punk. Prom queen even gave the punk her diamond earring.
When being questioned, Victor Castor John Kapelos says he was stuck for eight Saturdays in a row with the victim in high school, and is corrected by the agents that it was seven. He quickly asserts that is was eight. This mirrors The Breakfast Club (1985) where Vernon asserts it's eight weekends after Brian said it was seven.
Breakfast Club parallels: the analogue of the Judd Nelson character shows signs of having been burned with cigars in his youth, which parallels a story told by the character in the film and backed up by showing his classmates the scars when they believe he is exaggerating.
