The Time Agent has a very original take on the time travel Sci-fi sub-genre. An agent who is sent to the past to make just slight changes to couple's lives so they don't ever get to procreate a future criminal (like a Terminator, but far more subtle) Just a few tweaks here and there in what are apparently just trivial details of their everyday lives, and the ripple effect will send the relationship into a downward spiral. This one has a very tight and well thought-out script. The agent's rumination's on time travel and his philosophical musings are a delight to listen to. Just as it is to see him work and go through his daily regimen that is until
A suicidal girl enters his life. He stops this girl from jumping off a bridge (or does he? He's not sure if he had anything to do with her choice) and once she stays with him the short pops into an amusing and charming tale of two people creating ripple effects though time and into their lives. This segment lights up the story, carried by great editing, charming performances and an entertaining montage.
This is one stylish short. From the costume design, the cinematography and the art direction. The agent's apartment is such an effective set, resembling a bunker. The time travel aspect is never overblown but rather played very low key, with just documents being sent back in time. The time travel rules can be hard to pin down, but we feel the Time Agent did a very good job with it.
"The Time Agent is an intriguing twist on the time-travel sub-genre and also a touching and humorous character piece".
