Filming a Fulci Film

A Nightmare in the Brain (2016)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Very good interview with cinematographer Sandro Grossi who discusses his work and relationship with Italian horror director Lucio Fulci. Grossi starts off talking about seeing BARRY LYNDON and why this made him want to get behind the camera. From here he discusses the first time he met Fulci on the set of CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD and this turns into his career with the director. A CAT IN THE BRAIN, THE SWEET HOUSE OF HORRORS, DEMONIA and VOICES FROM BEYOND are all discussed. If you're a fan of these films or director Fulci then you'll enjoy this 27-minute interview that has Grossi sharing all sorts of wonderful stories. He talks about what it was like working with such small budgets and what Fulci actually would bring to a project. There's certainly nothing ground-breaking here but it's fun to watch.
