  [Damon grabs her, and tosses her down from bell tower] 

  Matt Donovan : [comes rushing in]  Where is she?

  Damon Salvatore : She went splat.

  Matt Donovan : You threw her out the window?

  Damon Salvatore : You are aware she's already dead?

  Matt Donovan : Damon!

  Damon Salvatore : Don't "Damon" me! In fact, don't say anything at all. Katherine Pierce just declared war and I need a clear head.

  Vicki Donovan : [back!]  Was that really necessary?

  [rubs her aching neck] 

  Matt Donovan : Vicki.

  Vicki Donovan : [lunging forward]  You're a dick!

  [Damon grabs her by the throat] 

  Vicki Donovan : You can't stop me! This is my ticket out of Hell and I'm taking it.

  Vicki Donovan : Katherine is going to save...

  Matt Donovan : Damon!

  Damon Salvatore : Relax. Just testing a theory. *Wait for it.*

  [bones crack, Vicki groans, rises from the dead once more] 

  Damon Salvatore : Yup, she's deader than a door nail.

  Vicki Donovan : [not dead]  And I'll just keep coming back, again and again.

  Damon Salvatore : You need to convince her to stop ringing this bell. You understand me? The fate of Mystic Falls lies with you and your family, so get on it.

  Matt Donovan : And where are you going?

  Damon Salvatore : [on his way]  I'm anticipating your failure. It's kinda dumb to stick around.

  [turns around] 

  Damon Salvatore : I have things to do.

• Caroline Forbes : This life will be good and beautiful, but not without heartbreak. In death comes peace. But pain is the cost of living. Like love, it's how we know we're alive.

  [as Damon lets his touch glide over Stefan's epitaph "Now at Peace"] 

  Caroline Forbes : Do you think it exists? Peace?

  Damon Salvatore : Mm-hmm.

  Caroline Forbes : I do.

  [nods through tears, smiling:] 

  Caroline Forbes : We'll see him again.

  Damon Salvatore : [softly]  You'll see him again. Me, I'm not so sure. I'm going the other way. They'll probably reopen Hell for me.

  Caroline Forbes : Don't be so sure.

  Damon Salvatore : Gmph.

• Katherine Pierce : Taking a trip down memory lane?

  [mock sigh] 

  Katherine Pierce : "I've missed this place"... said no one, ever.

  Damon Salvatore : I figured you'd keep showing up, to annoy me. You're *nothing* if not utterly predictable.

  Katherine Pierce : And miss a minute of the Elena Gilbert show? Speaking of which, shouldn't you be by her side?

  Damon Salvatore : Well, I figured now that you're practically the Devil, you'd be in the know. I just hung out with Bonnie Bennett, and she figured out a way to save the day.

  Katherine Pierce : Bonnie isn't strong enough to save a kitten.

  Damon Salvatore : She's done it once or twice. My money's on her.

  Katherine Pierce : We're talking about hellfire. So intense it could obliterate *anything* within miles. What the hell is Bonnie gonna do? She's thirty minutes away.

  Damon Salvatore : If you take the highway round the mountain, sure. But as the crow flies, it's only seven miles. Which is the beauty of these tunnels.

  [chuckles] 

  Damon Salvatore : Did you know that they go from the Armory

  [gestures:] 

  Damon Salvatore : *straight* into the heart of downtown Mystic Falls? Man, you didn't know that, did you?

  Katherine Pierce : You think Bonnie Bennett can magically draw hellfire through the tunnels away from the town?

  Damon Salvatore : Even better, I think she can send it straight back to Hell... where you and I will be waiting patiently for it. I gotta say, I look forward to dying by your side, K.P.

  Katherine Pierce : You're bluffing.

• Katherine Pierce : Oh, and if you wanna know how to set Elena free, you can't. Kai Parker was kind enough to set that trap for me, and if I'm not mistaken, he's forever indisposed.

  Damon Salvatore : After a hundred and sixty-three odd years, this banter that we have is just old.

  [shakes his head] 

  Damon Salvatore : So why don't we skip to the part where you tell me what you want and we'll negotiate.

  Katherine Pierce : [with laughter in her voice]  I have everything that I want, Damon. Or I'm about to. Once that past bell rings, this stupid town will go up in flames. And everybody will go "poof." Well, they'll burn alive first, but then their ashes will go "poof."

  Damon Salvatore : You know, petty doesn't look good on a woman your age, Katherine.

  Katherine Pierce : Oh, I'm not being petty, I'm gloating.

  Damon Salvatore : No, you're jealous of Elena. Because you know that Stefan and I both would choose her over you *every time.*

  Katherine Pierce : And she would choose *Stefan.*

  Damon Salvatore : What makes you so sure of that?

  Katherine Pierce : Because I would.

  [smiles] 

  Katherine Pierce : Any woman would. Stefan is the better man.

  [Damon thrusts the dagger up into her] 

• Damon Salvatore : [has dagger against Katherine's throat, awaits the surging hellfire]  Not long now, demon spawn. I can hear that fire coming back now.

  Katherine Pierce : You're... loving this, aren't you?

  Damon Salvatore : You have no idea!
