A Promo That's Better Than the Actual Film

The Making of 'Mako: The Jaws of Death' (1976)

*** (out of 4)

As far as promos go you're really not going to find one much better than this. I think the promo is a form of filmmaking that has certainly been forgotten over the years but back in the day it was the perfect way to try and scare up some business. MAKO: THE JAWS OF DEATH was one of the first films to try and cash-in on the Steven Spielberg film and this promo certainly makes you want to watch the film. The most important thing for a promo is that is draws interest in the film itself and there's no question that there's some exciting stuff here that would make you want to see the film in question. What's strange is that the film itself is quite bad so I can't imagine how many people watched this and went to the drive-in expecting something excellent only to get what they got.
