Goodbye old Yamato and goodbye to her spirit and identity.
I am so upset.
I liked the last 2199 because I considered it an evolution, compared to the very first show. Characters finally acquired more depth, the enemy was no more a mono dimensional expression of evil, the introduction of strong female characters, the new 3d graphics... 2199 is 10 times better than the first series.
In 2202 they went too far in promulgating this diversity message, and things stopped making sense.
So we have this rogue crew tough enough to rebel to authority but corroded by feelings. Everyone is so anxious to show how tormented they are for whatever reason. Kodai is completely useless and pathetic in managing his own emotions to the point of being an idiot. Only female characters show enough strength to know what they want and why they want it. The enemy is supremely evil, to the point of being funny, and wants to suppress humanity just because.
This show is terrible to that even reviewing it is almost impossible. The diversity / feminist / relativistic message is pushed to a point where even the whole story does not make any sense anymore. Men cry all the time. They don't even shoot the enemies anymore.
Farewell Yamato. It's been fun till it lasted. Star Wars Yamato.
