The Fallout TV series has been out for less than two weeks, and already it is garnering considerable attention from casual viewers and hardcore fans alike. The positive reception of the show is undeniable, and Amazon Prime has already taken its victory lap with the recent announcement that a second season has been greenlit.
Although much can be said for the creative talents of Jonathan Nolan and Todd Howard who worked their magic behind the camera, they cannot take all the credit. Several exceptional actors brought new characters of the franchise to the next level, and it was Moisés Arias who truly stole the show for many. His portrayal of Norm MacLean and the journey taken to discover the secret behind Vault 31 was essential in setting the tone and building tension.
Since the show’s debut, I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Arias about his experience on Fallout.

The release calendar for new movies over the next couple of weeks could best be described using an image of a tumbleweed lazily making its way across a desolate road. January has always been known as a dump month for Hollywood but this year is particularly bad as so many movies were pushed to later this year (or into 2025) due to the strikes last year. But it's not as though we have nothing coming down the pipeline. To that end, Bleecker Street is bringing an original sci-fi thriller in the form of "I.S.S." to a theater near you next weekend. Can it defy the odds and become a relatively rare original sci-fi hit?
As it stands, the film figures to have a muted debut. Box Office Pro currently has director Gabriela Cowperthwaite's latest taking in anywhere between $2 and $7 million on opening weekend. That's a pretty wide range but even...

Sylvester Stallone’s Gabe Walker is again taking to the mountains in Cliffhanger 2. A few months ago, it was announced that Greenland director Ric Roman Waugh was set to direct the Stallone sequel, but now that the movie is set to go into production in the summer of 2024, it will have a new director. Jean-Francois Richet, who made the two-part crime classic Mesrine starring Vincent Cassel, will now be at the helm of the sequel, which Screen Daily reveals finds Stallone’s character running a mountain lodge in the Dolomites, where he and a client are taken hostage. The sequel is set to center around Gabe’s daughter, who uses the climbing skills she learned from her father to save the day. Of course, this isn’t the first time a Cliffhanger sequel has been plotted. A few years back, director Ana Lily Amirpour was set to direct a...

Jason Statham must have enjoyed working with David Ayer on “The Beekeeper.” He’s re-upping to headline Ayer’s next action film, “Levon’s Trade.”
Based on the novel by famed comics author (and the creator of Batman arch-foe Bane) Chuck Dixon, Sylvester Stallone will adapt the crime thriller. This marks a rare occasion whereby Stallone writes a film in which he doesn’t star. The 2013 Statham action drama “Homefront” remains an underrated gem of a genre flick.
Black Bear and BlockFilm will present the package at AFM, adapting the first of 11 best-selling novels featuring Levon Cade. Cade (Statham) is a reformed criminal currently on the straight and narrow and working construction. However, when his boss’s teenage daughter Jenny vanishes, he’s called upon to reemploy the skills that made him a legendary figure in the shadowy world of black ops. Evildoers beware! Sylvester Stallone is getting back in the ring with Amazon MGM Studios to develop Samaritan 2, a sequel to the Italian Stallion’s 2022 superhero action movie. Bragi F. Schut, who wrote the first film, returns to pen the sequel, with Stallone producing alongside his Balboa Productions partner Braden Aftergood. In addition to producing the film, Stallone reprises his role as Joe from the original.
Here’s the official synopsis for Samaritan:
Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone), is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty-five years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis. Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos,...

Amazon MGM Studios is going back for superhero seconds.
The streamer is developing a sequel to Samaritan, its 2022 action movie starring Sylvester Stallone, and has hired Bragi F. Schut to pen the script. Schut also wrote the first movie.
Stallone is returning as producer, as is his Balboa Productions partner Braden Aftergood. Stallone is also reprising his starring role with a deal made prior to the actors strike.
Samaritan, directed by Julius Avery, told of a young boy who is saved from a beating by a sanitation worker. The boy comes to believe that the older man is a superhero who disappeared 20 years earlier, after an epic battle with his archenemies. The movie, which premiered exclusively on Prime Video on Aug. 26, 2022, in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, overperformed for the company and was the No. 1 film on the service for three consecutive weeks, according to Amazon.
Schut wrote the first script on spec.

It’s October, so it’s time for two things: pumpkin spice on everything and the start of Christmas marketing. And just in time, the Norwegian holiday horror-comedy There’s Something in the Barn makes its world premiere at Fantastic Fest.
Bill inherits his uncle’s house in Norway after the man dies in a freak accident. We, of course, know it was no accident, and soon enough so will Bill, his wife and Bill’s kids Nora and Lucas (Townes Bunner) will too.
They relocate from California to Norway with plans to open a bed and breakfast, but complications ensue. Both in the obvious cultural differences and, more ominously, what Lucas discovers living in the barn.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has just about accomplished it all: three Mr. Universe titles, a two-term stint as governor of California, over $5 billion at the global box office…But Arnold hasn’t done something so many major seasoned actors have, which is appear in a Marvel blockbuster. But that doesn’t mean he has entirely ruled it out…
Speaking with Men’s Health, Arnold Schwarzenegger said he would have no problem joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, under one condition: “If the role is right!” Arnold joining the MCU? Now that would kick some ice!
Of course, Arnold Schwarzenegger does have a brief history with superhero movies. The most infamous was his turn as Mr. Freeze in Batman & Robin, which, despite its reputation, Arnold isn’t ashamed of, once saying, “I don’t regret it at all. The release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is one of the biggest moments in MCU, building on Phase Five and capping off what most consider to be the best trilogy in the entire franchise. Nabbing Sylvester Stallone for the second Guardians was a major get, as was signing him for the final installment. But getting him to say a line that involved bowel movements? That was a little bit more challenging…

Investigating the nature of altruism, director Penny Lane turns the camera on herself in Confessions of a Good Samaritan, showing her process as an organ donor navigating the uncomfortable space of “gifting” a part of your body to a stranger. Single, in her early 40s, and financially secure after a decade of building her career, she decides its time to give back to the universe as a way of saying thank you for life ultimately working out.
For Lane, this is a rare work to proceed in a fairly straightforward manner. Extensive self-interviews frame her donation, which was made before Covid disrupted every industry, and Confessions unpacks the history of donations, including a 1984 decree that outlawed the exchange of money or anything of value for a body part. Though most donations are made to family members in need, online exchanges––similar to a dating website––are an option for those...

As is tradition, the Golden Raspberry Awards announced its winners on Oscar weekend. The Razzies, now in their 43rd year, are a tongue-in-cheek ceremony that “honor” the worst films of the year. Netflix’s Marilyn Monroe biopic “Blonde,” reaped a leading eight bids and won two: Worst Picture and Worst Screenplay for director Andrew Dominik. The film’s star, Ana de Armas, was not nominated here but reaped a Best Actress bid at the Oscars.
Conversely, two-time Oscar champ Tom Hanks was overlooked by the academy for his portrayal of Colonel Tom Parker in “Elvis” but he won two Razzies: Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screen Combo for “Tom Hanks & His Latex-Laden Face (and That Ludicrous Accent).”

Filmmaker Penny Lane (“Listening to Kenny G”) is known for her insightful, thought-provoking, humorous documentaries. But her most recent docu, “Confessions of a Good Samaritan,” is her most personal to date. In 2019 the director decided to become a Good Samaritan organ donor – a term given to a person who donates a kidney to a stranger, someone she’s never met and never will meet. Beyond giving away one of her organs, Lane decided to document the process. The result is a funny, intimate, and provocative quest to understand why everyone seems to think Lane is crazy to give away a kidney even though more than 100,000 people in the U.S. are awaiting lifesaving organ transplants. In the docu from Sandbox Films, Lane sets off on a quest to understand the science of altruism, the ethical controversies surrounding organ donation, and her own motivations for giving away her kidney.

Russell Crowe is back and he’s got some demons to battle.
“The Pope’s Exorcist,” out in April, follows Father Gabriele Amorth, Chief Exorcist of the Vatican (played by Crowe), as he takes on his most mysterious case yet – the possession of a young boy whose experience has ties to an ancient Vatican secret. And, yes, it looks pretty spooky.
Amorth was a real person (he passed away in 2016), an exorcist for the Vatican who spoke openly about his work, authoring several books about exorcism and frequently offering his opinion on the subject. He was the subject of a documentary called “The Devil and Father Amorth,” directed by William Friedkin (who directed “The Exorcist”) and had some questionable views about how someone can open themselves up to demonic possession – among them reading the “Harry Potter” books, practicing yoga or blaspheming. While patently bizarre, it at least offers a pretty good...

The Pope: he's just like you and me! He lives in a beautiful Roman city-state surrounded by stunning art and architecture, he makes decisions that affect about a billion people, and he has his own personal exorcist, played by Russell Crowe. Or so I'm led to believe based on the latest demon-fueled horror flick, "The Pope's Exorcist."
Some titles are vague, and others say everything you'll ever need to know: this is unsurprisingly the latter. "The Pope's Exorcist" sees Crowe taking on the role of Father Gabriele Amorth, former real-life Chief Exorcist of the Vatican. During his time as the Vatican exorcist (Amorth passed away in 2016), the priest wrote two books detailing a career of expelling demons from the possessed. He claimed to have performed over 100,000 exorcisms in his lifetime and in the upcoming film, we'll get a glimpse of the bizarre events he claimed to witness.

Every year, awards season fetes the best, brightest, and boldest films. And yes, that means for better and for worse.
The infamous Razzie Awards, officially titled the Golden Raspberry Awards, (dis)honors the cringiest movies. In contrast, the almost century-old Academy Awards toasts to the industry’s greatest achievements. But as always in Hollywood, there’s a twist: What happens when one movie is nominated in both awards ceremonies? How does one define high art and low art, horrific and honorable, despicable and perfection?
Since the Razzie Awards were founded in 1980, the awards have been the snarky counterpart to the Academy’s picks.
This year, Andrew Dominik’s controversial Marilyn Monroe epic “Blonde” garnered eight Razzie noms, including Worst Picture, Worst Director, and Worst Screenplay. Just 24 hours later and the film was among the 95th Academy Awards nominations list with lead star Ana de Armas recognized in the Best Actress category.

Awards season is upon us, and while Hollywood is honoring 2022’s best films and performances, the Razzie Awards shine a light on the “worst” movies and actors of the year.
Leading the field is Andrew Dominik’s controversial Marilyn Monroe biopic “Blonde,” with eight nominations. While Ana de Armas is not up for worst actress, the film is nominated for worst picture and Dominik for worst director and screenplay. Evan Williams and Xavier Samuel are also both competing for worst supporting actor alongside Mod Sun and Pete Davidson for “Good Mourning” and Oscar winner Tom Hanks for “Elvis.”
Hanks is also in the worst actor race for his turn as Geppetto in Disney’s live-action “Pinocchio.” Filling out the worst actor race are Colson Baker, Davidson (for a voice role in “Marmaduke”), Sylvester Stallone (“Samaritan”) and Jared Leto (“Morbius.”)

If you thought the Razzie Awards learned a lesson last year about bullying, decency and humanity when they graciously rescinded an “award” they’d given to Bruce Willis due to his failing health, you’d be dead wrong. This year’s Golden Raspberry “honorees” include a 12-year-old girl (wait — how is that okay?) in Worst Actress, Ryan Kiera Armstrong (“Firestarter”). Also recognized is movie star Tom Hanks in Worst Actor (“Disney’s Pinocchio”) and Worst Supporting Actor (“Elvis”) — he of course is a two-time Oscar winner for “Philadelphia” (1993) and “Forrest Gump” (1994). Scroll down to see all of the 2023 Razzie Awards nominations.
The biggest film nominee this year is Netflix’s Marilyn Monroe biopic “Blonde,” which scored a jaw-dropping eight bids including Worst Picture and Worst Supporting Actor x2 for Xavier Samuel and Evan Williams. Luckily, Best Actress Oscar hopeful Ana de Armas was spared.

Sylvester Stallone’s rise is a story so celebrated, it’s come to shape how we imagine the Hollywood dream. A young, no-name actor writes a script, sells it to a studio, fights to play the title role, and — for his effort, his faith, and his talent — the movie turns him into a star. More than a star, really. “Rocky” and the ensuing sequels helped establish Stallone as a multi-hyphenate artist. For nearly 50 years, Stallone has been writing, acting, producing, and directing many of his own projects.
But after his latest dual role — leading and executive producing the Paramount+ series “Tulsa King” — Stallone may be staying behind the camera on his future creative endeavors. When asked if he’s writing any passion projects to direct and star in, Stallone said, “I might, but maybe not the acting.” He mentioned “Poe,” the Edgar Allen Poe biopic he’s long sought to realize,...

Sylvester Stallone may be bitter about his Rocky franchise debacle; however, the action star is currently ready to enjoy unveiling his newest project as a mob boss in Oklahoma in Paramount+’s Tulsa King. It’s not difficult to see how the Taylor Sheridan television empire, featuring shows like Yellowstone, 1883, and Mayor of Kingstown are linked, or why they might be so popular with the rabid Sheridan core fanbase. They all feature a look at multi-generational strong-willed families, who struggle to establish or maintain their own personal dynasties. These families are typically led by a patriarch of sorts – perhaps stubborn in his own way, but with a moral code that, despite his antiheroic methodology, is easy to cheer for. The family will argue, some of them will most likely die, but throughout it all, they remain eternally bonded, and the audience will continue to root for their success.
Now the latest entry into the Sheridan-verse is Tulsa King, which follows the story of Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a New York mafia captain who, after serving a 25-year prison sentence, is released. During that time,...

Paramount+ today unveiled the full-length trailer for “Tulsa King,” the upcoming mafia series starring Sylvester Stallone from “Yellowstone” creator, Taylor Sheridan.
The crime drama stars Stallone as New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi, who fresh off a 25-year prison sentence finds himself heading midwest on his boss’ orders. To set up his new criminal enterprise, Dwight taps a ring of locals to join his crew – and where he goes, violence and chaos inevitably follow.
The clip opens with Dwight’s homecoming, where he doesn’t receive the warm welcome he was expecting. As a thank-you for keeping his mouth shut for a quarter-century, his boss sends him to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Dwight is clearly a fish out of water. By means of violence, intimidation and cold hard cash, he gets busy assembling his team.

The choice of music in a TV show is a significant factor.
A well-conceptualized opening sequence accompanied by a great song can be more memorable than the TV show itself.
We have compiled 20 excellent opening theme songs to which one cannot help but move their body. And if they don't, their mind does the work for them.
20. I Don't Wanna Wait by Paula Cole on Dawson's Creek
The song marries well with the show's theme about a bunch of teens trying to figure life out. They don't wait for life to pass them by.
The opening sequence has the cast being playful and carefree in places around their town as Paula sings the lyrics.
You watch it several times and soon feel like part of the group.
It is easily one of the most recognizable opening songs ever.
19. Luck You Got by The HighStrung on Shameless (US)

Yo, Jennifer! Sylvester Stallone and wife Jennifer Flavin appear to be reconciling, just over one month after Flavin filed for divorce.
A source told People, “They are amazing together when they are happy…Their friends can’t imagine them getting a divorce. It really seems they will be able to work things out though. Everyone is happy that they are giving their marriage a second chance.”
Flavin cited that Sylvester Stallone “engaged in the intentional dissipation, depletion and/or waste of marital assets which has had an adverse economic impact on the marital estate” in her divorce filing. This came as “a shock” to the Rocky actor, according to the source. With that, Stallone began working on keeping his relationship intact. “He has been working hard to win her back. They love each other,” the source said. “They want to keep their family together.”
Fortunately, it seems to be working.

HBO Max, which just became part of Nielsen’s weekly U.S. streaming rankings a few weeks ago, had a coming-out party on the chart for August 22 to 28 thanks to House of the Dragon.
The Game of Thrones prequel racked up 741 million minutes of viewing from its two episodes — the second of which was cut off after just its first three hours due to Nielsen’s methodology. That was good for sixth place for the week, but rabid interest in the series propelled the original Thrones as well as library sitcom The Big Bang Theory into the top 10.
Netflix’s Echoes captured the weekly title, with a bit more than 1.1 billion minutes of viewing across its seven episodes.
Nielsen measures viewing only via a TV screen in the U.S. for Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, Apple TV+ and HBO Max, delivering results after about a month’s delay.

Samaritan sees Sylvester Stallone star as a retired superhero who is brought back to his former career when a young boy and his mother are put in danger with a local crime syndicate.
A young boy learns that a superhero who was thought to have gone missing after an epic battle twenty years ago may in fact still be around.
But is it any good? Check out my video review below:
Directed by Julius Avery, Samaritan is available to stream now on Amazon Prime. You can also check out our written review of the film here.
