Stewball is a bipedal horse who once dreamed of becoming a writer. Yet he is playing it safe in a dull office job, afraid of everything-especially Death, who seems to be following him everywhere. Fed up with this harassment, Stewball writes Death a letter, asking why he is being followed. Death invites Stewball to meet him to meet in a public park. Though terrified of Death, Stewball wants answers even more. But will Death show up for a casual conversation--or something more menacing? In order to find out, and change his life for the better, Stewball must confront his greatest fears and his preconceptions about life and death.
