There were multiple things that happened at the first Tribal Council of the episode that has never happened in 31 Season of Survivor. Firstly, after the votes were cast, both
Kelley Wentworth and
Jeremy Collins played Hidden Immunity Idols. When the votes were read, there were three votes for Jeremy and three votes for Kelley that were negated by the Idols. Thus, no actual votes were cast. Secondly,
Jeff Probst gave the Castaways a few moments to discuss among themselves how to vote next and he called for the vote again. When he read the votes,
Kimmi Kappenberg and
Latasha Ajayi each received three votes. He then addressed the tribe asking if anyone was planning on changing their vote on the re-vote and they all said they would not. He then declared the tribe deadlocked. The Survivor rules state that if the tribe is deadlocked, the people with votes then become immune from the rocks.
Spencer Bledsoe was immune because he had the Immunity Necklace, Jeremy and Kelley were immune because they played their Idols, thus the only person who would be eligible to draw a rock would be
Keith Nale. Jeff then said that the four had to agree unanimously on which of the two who got votes was to be voted out or Keith would automatically voted out. The four agreed that Kimmi should leave thus avoiding Keith going home despite no votes cast against him.
