The intern who explains about HIV PEP treatment in the film is played by a real doctor.
The main actors were cast after seeing a casting call on Facebook, which was very explicit about nudity.
The acronym that the main characters are told to tell the hospital emergency reception is "AES", short for "accident d'exposition au sang" ("accident of exposure to blood"). In the English subtitles it is translated as "ASE", presumably to mean "accidental sanguineous exposure".
The original title, which translates literally as "Théo and Hugo in the Same Boat", is a reference to Jacques Rivette's Celine and Julie Go Boating (1974). The name of the character Théo is also an homage to Agnès Varda's Cléo from 5 to 7 (1962), which is told almost in real time like this film.
