- TriviaWhile Eobard is in his cell talking with Barry, he recounts his origin story, which is taken from the 1990's version of Thawne's comic book origins, ignoring both his original origin and his rebooted Rebirth origin. Thawne started out obsessed with The Flash and wanted to become like him, replicating the accident that gave Barry his powers. After traveling back in time to meet his hero, Thawne discovered that he was destined to become Flash's greatest enemy, and became resolved to be superior to Flash in every way, thus becoming the Reverse-Flash.
- GoofsFrom their conversation in the Pipeline, Thawne learned Barry's identity sometime after he got his powers and became Reverse-Flash. But as Thawne himself says, he spent 'years' figuring out how the Flash got his abilities, in order to duplicate the process and, thus, the result. If his research was as extensive as he implies, he should have been well aware of Barry's identity, even before getting his powers; considering both the unique circumstance by which Barry got his powers and how rare it is to survive being struck by lightning in the first place, surely Thawne would have come across Barry's name at some point.
- Quotes
Eobard Thawne: Is that you, Flash?
Barry Allen: [remaining in the shadows] Why do you hate me so much?
Eobard Thawne: I didn't always. I was obsessed with you. For so long, I wanted to be The Flash. I spent years figuring out how you came to be. Duplicated the reaction... and it worked. I became like you.
Barry Allen: Right, so what happened?
Eobard Thawne: This ability to travel through time revealed a truth. My fate was to become your greatest enemy. I was never going to be The Flash, so I became the reverse of everything that you were. The more people you saved, the more you were loved, the more I had to take from you.
Barry Allen: That is why you killed my mother? That's why you ruined my life? Because you couldn't be me?
Eobard Thawne: I BECAME BETTER THAN YOU! I am the *one thing* you cannot stop, Flash!
Barry Allen: No. No, no. Not anymore. Our race is over. And you lost.
Eobard Thawne: I've learned what time period you're from, Flash. And one day soon, I'll learn your name.

So let's go about what was generally excellent in this episode, the episode was more layered with sub plots and narratives that were previously shown in past episodes, however what was so great about how this episode dealt with them is that they gave them definitive development and necessity to the plot of the show. The Iris' mom subplot became much more relevant because of the now introduced Wally West and her illness, and the episode was more balanced in terms of giving the right attention to which narrative they should follow. The Patty and Barry narrative was officially given an absolute closure that shows how much Barry has developed, and it shows how much they have giving him a sense of closure with the Reverse Flash story line which may have seem to be a little rushed at start, however it picked up it's pace with handy (even though obvious) exposition for the audience and an intriguing plot element with complicated timey wimey things once again. We are also introduced to future set ups and hints that is sure to keep fans speculating and discussing which the show is really known for doing much like in the first season with Harrison Wells. All these exciting elements handled well were great and it was refreshing to see new elements thrown in that finally kick start this season to many possible outcomes all pointing towards Zoom. If the Flash continues to create episodes like these more often than not, then the show will sure be able to have a sense of balance that the audience will grow to like as each episode passes by.
