The heart of “Wild Diamond,” the only debut to play in competition at Cannes this year, is a story we’ve seen before. A young woman living in grim-to-disappointing circumstances has dreams of stardom, and her journey toward fame takes her to dark places, physically and emotionally. You can find versions of this scenario in Andrea Arnold’s “Fish Tank” to Ninja Thyberg’s “Pleasure.” Director Agathe Riedinger’s debut feature has little new to say about the pursuit of fame and the toll it takes despite a truly unique heroine in Liane, played with a strange and alluring distance by Malou Khebizi. It’s only a shame that the film does her a disservice in leaving the world around her underdeveloped.
The 19-year-old Liane has mastered the art of making herself up for the internet. In one sequence, we watch as she gets ready. She contours her face with precision.

With Vanderpump Rules on pause, it seems the show is bracing for a reset in the aftermath of Scandoval.
Ariana Madix was last seen on the Bravo hit storming out of a party after being approached by her ex-boyfriend, Tom Sandoval.
In the aftermath, the reality TV star removed the series from her Instagram bio, fueling concerns that she’s already decided to walk away from the show that made her a household name.
The 38-year-old’s career is on the rise after coming off a record-breaking run as Roxie Hart.
She’s also appeared on Dancing With the Stars over the last year, much to Scheana Shay’s dismay.
Her profile will rise more next month when she debuts as the host of Love Island Season 6 on Peacock.

U.K. broadcaster ITV has reported mixed financial fortunes for the first quarter of 2024.
Its advertising revenue growth of 3%, with the second quarter expected to be up around 12%, is offset by the downturn in revenues from ITV Studios. Total revenue was down 7% to £887 million ($1.10 billion), between January and March, compared to £952 million ($1.18 billion) during the same period in 2023.
Within that total, ITV Studios revenues were down by 16% to £382 million (2023: £457 million), “due to the phasing of deliveries which are heavily weighted to H2 and the expected impact from both the 2023 U.S. writers and actors strikes and the weaker demand from free-to-air broadcasters in Europe who have been holding back spend until they see more certainty in the advertising market,” the broadcaster said.

Ariana Madix’s 1st Love Island Promo Brings Barbie Energy
The one thing about Ariana Madix is that she loves Love Island so she will make the perfect replacement for Sarah Hyland. Sarah was a hit with fans but had to exit due to scheduling conflicts. Since Ariana made an appearance on the show, she seemed like the next best choice. It looked like filming for Season 12 of Vanderpump would have to take a backseat since Ariana was needed in Fiji this summer. She has already said, during Wwhl, that she is obsessed with Love Island:

Despite the tendency to dismiss people's interest in reality shows, the genre continues to thrive. As much as people love the scripted content and fantasy stories, they are even more fascinated by real people communicating without a script and showing a real emotional response to some of the events.
From Love Island to Netflix's hit Squid Game, the shows are very different. Some ask players to solve endless puzzles, while others lure them into believing they can find love with other contestants. Anything that involves real people is a notch more exciting than any fiction could ever be.
Is Super Rich in Korea Worth Watching?

Vanderpump Rules is changing its production schedule, opting to not film season 12 this summer.
TMZ first reported that unlike previous seasons of the hit Bravo reality series, which typically begin production in May and film throughout the summer, Vanderpump Rules‘ upcoming season won’t begin taping until later.
Sources told the publication that the network felt the cast deserved a break to “let their lives breathe a bit in the wake of Scandoval,” with hopes of some fresh drama that doesn’t involve the Tom Sandoval-sparked scandal from the spring of 2023. An additional factor in the decision to not film this summer is Ariana Madix’s stint as host of Love Island USA, as she will be filming in Fiji for a few months.
Though TMZ didn’t share when production is expected to pick up for season 12, it noted that it won’t be a full-year hiatus.

The face of Bravo is speaking out about the surprising decision to pause one of the network’s biggest shows.
As Monsters and Critics previously reported, Vanderpump Rules is going on hiatus following the upcoming Season 11 finale.
Instead of the cameras picking back up in the summer like previous seasons of the long-running series, the cast is on hiatus for several months before production gets underway on Vanderpump Rules Season 12.
On his SiriusXM show, the Watch What Happens Live host said pausing successful series isn’t a new concept.
“We used to do this all the time with the Housewives,” he dished.
“We would say, ‘You know what? Let’s put cameras down for, you know, four or five months and come back to them,’ and they will have lived, you know, life,” he added.
“Things will be different,” he affirmed.

It’s hard to believe it’s been over a year since Scandoval sent Vanderpump Rules from a dead show to one of the most-talked-about shows of 2023.
As the series gears up for the final episodes of Vanderpump Rules Season 11, the topic on cast members’ minds remains Scandoval, and the show is struggling to move on from the scandal.
Despite continued strong ratings, Bravo has made a controversial decision about the series’ future.

As Vanderpump Rules Season 11 starts wrapping up on Bravo, Deadline has learned that production for Season 12 has been delayed.
A source close to the cast confirmed that the show would not be filming this summer, breaking the production schedule’s norm.
The show had traditionally picked up production during the summer months to coincide with gay pride events in West Hollywood, a weekend where Lisa Vanderpump’s establishments like Sur and TomTom get a lot of foot traffic.
TMZ, which first reported the news, states that one reason for the hiatus is to give the cast a break following the fallout from Scandoval.
The cast has been divided in the aftermath of the affair that had Tom Sandoval cheating on long-time girlfriend Ariana Madix with her best friend, Rachel Leviss. Season 11 picked up filming right after those events, and the group was heavily fractured, not allowing them time to process...

Bachelor alum and podcast host, Nick Viall is calling out the chronically broke Vanderpump Rules cast. He is an avid watcher of the hit Bravo series and loves to chat and gossip about the show and its stars. Now, he is calling them out for their always pleading poverty. Keep reading for more details on what he said.
Nick Viall Calls Out Always Broke Vanderpump Rules Cast
The Vanderpump Rules cast does seem to have a lot of money issues. Scheana Shay talked about how she was broke during the pandemic and Tom Sandoval sent her thousands of dollars. Therefore, it was hard to be mad at him. As for Sandoval, he had been spending a lot of money on his band and Schwartz & Sandy’s. Then, he offered his ex, Ariana Madix a large chunk to buy her out of their Valley Village home. Ultimately, he was not sure if he actually had it.

This month, we head to the European nation of Belgium for the first time. Belgium’s Traitors-producing neighbor the Netherlands tends to get the lion’s share of the Benelux region’s format plaudits but there’s plenty good stuff coming from the home of Hercule Poirot, and one such series is 99 to Beat. The fun, playful show in which to win you simply can’t lose, was recently picked up by ITV in the UK and conversations with U.S. buyers are well underway.

Sarah Hyland Confirms Love Island Departure, Upset How News Revealed
Earlier on Wednesday, March 27th, word broke that Ariana Madix would be replacing Sarah Hyland as the host of Love Island. She had guest-starred on the hit reality series during the last season so it was like passing the torch. The reason that Sarah would be exiting was due to a scheduling conflict so it did not appear to be bad blood or anything of the sort. However, nothing had been signed for Ariana but there was nothing holding her back. She is currently wrapping up her run as Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway.

It’s official: Disney+ and Hulu now live together in one app. Good thing too, since Disney already spent $8.5 billion to buy out Comcast’s stake, with more on the way.
You can bet you’re going to see a whole lot more ads pushing the Disney Bundle, which is the only way to get access to Hulu content via the Disney+ app (the marketing campaign is already in full swing). Disney even changed the color of its logo to a bluish green blend to let you know the app is Disney+ And Hulu merged together.
The idea is that by understanding how much content is available to you without having to swap between apps to find what you want to watch, you’re less likely to cancel. They also want more subscribers. Disney+ as of the end of 2023 has 46.1 million subscribers in the U.S. and Canada compared to Hulu’s 49.7 million.

Subscribers to both Disney+ and Hulu will now see the “full” Hulu experience in the Disney+ app — and the Mouse House wants to use the official launch of the integrated product to convert standalone Disney+ customers into two-service subs.
Starting Wednesday (March 27), the full Hulu on Disney+ experience is rolling out in the U.S. That means Hulu titles will be integrated into personalized content recommendations, sets and collections on Disney+. Under the previous “beta” integration, which launched last December, Hulu content was presented in a separate hub on Disney+.
Stitching Hulu tightly into Disney+ is aimed at driving up total viewing hours among customers who already have both streamers — but who may not necessarily be aware of the breadth of content they can watch. Higher engagement with a streaming service is correlated with lower cancelation rates.
Meanwhile, standalone Disney+ subscribers in the U.S. will be in for a harder sell on Hulu.

The twin superheroes are back, and what better way to celebrate The Thundermans Return than to get to know the actors at its center a bit better? Kira Kosarin (Phoebe) and Jack Griffo (Max) stopped by TV Insider’s office, and we had them play “Knock Your Blocks Off” to do just that. Some questions in our Jenga trivia game were very TV-related. For instance, Kosarin, since she’s not single (ruling out Love Island), would want to be on Blown Away as a contestant. “There’s a Netflix show about glass blowers, and I’ve been wanting to learn how to blow glass, so I would want to be on that show and I would want them to teach me how to blow glass,” she explains. For her, the best running gag on TV comes from Community, Abed’s (Danny Pudi) breaking of the fourth wall. “It is a tricky one to do well,...

NBCUniversal plans to start using generative AI in its ad sales efforts, the company announced Wednesday at its One24 event for advertisers.
AI technology will specifically be used to drive audience targeting and advertiser performance as marketers continue to seek ways to make their messages more precise.
The AI initiative is one of several introduced during One24, which was held in Studio 8H in the company’s Rockefeller Center headquarters. The fourth annual event is a lead-up to the main NBCU upfront, which this year will be May 13 at Radio City Music Hall.
The AI offering analyzes large swaths of programming and digital content across the NBCU portfolio and pairs it with the company’s first-party data to produce “emotion-based, AI-powered audience segments,” in the words of an official announcement. NBCU says it has developed 300 segments that help advertisers match content to viewers.

Hulu has greenlit an unscripted series set in a Los Angeles marijuana dispensary. So, emphasis on the “green.” And the “lit.” This is fun.
The TV-ma series, titled “High Hopes,” hails from executive producer Jimmy Kimmel as well ITV America. It will consist of six episodes and will debut on April 20, naturally.

As one of the oldest cannabis dispensaries in Hollywood, Mmd attracts a wild mix of weed-loving customers and is a home away from home for their Og employees who work hard and smoke harder! This season builds to their biggest day of the year—4.20—as the gang attempts to expand nationwide and release their own top-shelf cannabis brand. Will they find...
