Cannes and Sundance-winning filmmaker Tarik Saleh starts shooting tomorrow (May 15) on political thriller Eagles Of The Republic with Playtime on board for international sales. Memento Distribution will release in France and Sf Studios has bought Nordic rights.
Eagles Of The Republic is third and final film in Saleh’s Cairo trilogy after Sundance Grand Jury prize winner The Nile Hilton Incident (2017) and Cannes screenplay winner Cairo Conspiracy aka Boy from Heaven (2022).
Written and directed by Saleh, its cast includes Swedish actor Fares Fares, French star Lyna Khoudri, American-Palestinian actress Cherien Dabis, French-Moroccan actress Zineb Triki and Finnish-Syrian actor Sherwan Haji.

Voltage Pictures is kicking off sales in Cannes this week on the child kidnapping thriller Stolen Girl starring Kate Beckinsale and Scott Eastwood.
Italy’s Ilbe is lead-producing and Voltage is executive producer on the €25m ($26m) feature, which started principal photography on Monday (May 13) in Puglia in Italy.
Stolen Girl follows Maureen Danning (Beckinsale), who partners with Robeson (Eastwood), a former Marine and child abduction specialist, after her ex-husband abducts their young daughter and flees to the Middle East.
Maureen and Robeson embark on a mission to Beirut and navigate a maze of betrayal, corruption, and espionage to bring the girl home.

Middle East distributor Front Row Filmed Entertainment has finalised a raft of Cannes deals with Embankment, HanWay, Protagonist, Cmg, Visit Films and Fox International Productions.
As announced during Cannes, Front Row also picked up Jacques Audiard’s Cannes Palme d’Or winner Dheepan from Celluloid Dreams.
Front Row continued a long-standing relationship by securing deals across Protagonist’s slate including Pete Travis’ Middle East-set action-drama Snatchback, which is set to star and be produced by Rachel Weisz, heavy-metal drama Lords of Chaos and Taika Waititi’s comedy Hunt For The Wilderpeople.
