- Feeling that the Machine hasn't been forthright in an overall vision for their work, Root tries to communicate with her directly to find out if that vision includes finding Shaw, an assurance for which she wants before continuing. Without that assurance, Root does continue to follow the Machine's direction in taking a job as the new producer for Max Greene's AM talk radio program, Mysterious Transmissions, which is a call-in show concerning conspiracy theories on non-human life and intelligence invading the human world. Root knows that Max could be playing a dangerous game if he ever came close to discovering the existence of either Samaritan or the Machine. When Root discovers the specific reason the Machine sent her into this job, Root makes a decision of her own to further her own goal. The outcome of this specific event leads to Root, Finch and Reese having another philosophical discussion about the nature of their work and what the Machine is programmed to do. Meanwhile, Samaritan, through Lambert, tries yet another tack in convincing her to join their team. In the process, Shaw begins to loose sense of what is a simulation and what is reality. If she can regain that footing in knowing the difference, it may be the first step in an escape. And Fusco is temporarily sidelined following the explosion at the demolition site, which has him in the hospital with injuries. Still feeling like he is left out of the loop of what is happening with the team especially considering his finding at the demolition site, he gives Finch and Reese an ultimatum of that information or packing in his work for them for good.—Huggo
