Being Mr. Met (2015)
*** 1/2 (out of 4)
Director Errol Morris made a string of commercials for ESPN about how far some sport fanatics are willing to go. These commercials were so successful that the company asked him to make a series of short films that take a look at the more comical side of fans.
AJ Mass is the subject of this short and he served as the mascot Mr. Met for three seasons before getting fired after he asked for health insurance. Mass talks about his love for Shea Stadium and the Mets and how he eventually got hired on there for the summer and how this led to him being Mr. Met. This short from Morris is certainly entertaining as it gives you a "behind-the-scenes" look at who exactly is inside the costume and what they're thinking during various aspects of the job. There are some funny stories told here including one where bat giveaway night wasn't a good idea for someone whose head is a ball.
