In the opening scene, the girl in the tuxedo who helps an elderly woman who slipped on the gumballs is Aniya Wolf, a Pennsylvania native who made the news when she was turned away at prom by her school for showing up in a tuxedo. She was invited to appear on the show by creator Rob McElhenney on Twitter.
The episode features an Easter egg of sorts: behind the bar, there is a picture of New Jersey state trooper Sean Cullen, who was killed in the line of duty in March 2016. Cullen's family was contacted by the show and asked permission to use his image. Some of Trooper Cullen's family members were also extras in this episode.
Many references to Beauty and the Beast, such as the dancing, the girl being named Belle, her falling in love with him regardless of his appearance, and Belle's relationship with her father.
Second shortest episode of the show (less than 18 mins) after "Being Frank" in season 11.
