The first match is Goldust versus the Ultimate Warrior in a King of the Ring qualifying match. Vince McMahon interviews Ted DiBiase, who promises to leave the WWF if Steve Austin doesn't defeat Savio Vega tomorrow. The Smoking Gunns face the Bodydonnas. The main event is Ahmed Johnson versus Vader in a King of the Ring qualifying match. A pretty decent show.

King of the Ring: First Round

Goldust (W/Marlena) Vs The Ultimate Warrior

Goldust tries to leave the ring at one juncture, but Ahmed Johnson comes out and takes Goldust back to the ring. Both men end up getting counted out, eliminating both from the KOTR. Jerry Lawler tries to ambush Warrior from behind with a chair, but Warrior sees it coming and chases him around ringside.

Thoughts: This match was pretty boring. Goldust's methodical style didn't mesh well with Warrior's. Maybe it was a good idea a match never commenced between the two at In Your House: Good Friends, Better Enemies. At the very least, this match was the beginning of two new feuds.

*1/2

WWE gets some publicity for the power outage at In Your House: Beware of Dog in Florence, South Carolina.

Ted Dibiase is so confident that Stone Cold will defeat Savio Vega in the Strap Match, that he's putting his career on the line. If Vega wins, Dibiase will leave the WWF. If Austin wins, Vega has to be Dibiase's chauffeur.

The Smoking Gunns (W/Sunny) Vs The Bodydonnas

Sunny left the Bodydonnas, high and dry to join The Smoking Gunns. The Smoking Gunns win when Bart reverses the momentum of a cross- body attempt from Skip. This match was long and a bit uninteresting. There were many story lines here. Phineas is in love with Sunny. Sunny screwed over The Bodydonnas to join the Smoking Gunns, and Billy Gunn and Sunny have a thing for each other.

King of the Ring: First Round

Vader (W/Owen Hart & Jim Cornette) Vs Ahmed Johnson

Vader wins the match due to interference from Owen Hart and the use of his cast. This went much better than I thought. Both pulled out some good power moves, especially in the strength department. Those are probably the best compliments I can give it.

**

Ahmed is knocked out from being nailed in the head from Owen Hart's cast. Goldust revives him by giving Ahmed mouth to mouth resuscitation Ahmed becomes alert and absolutely snaps. Ahmed goes on a mini rampage, looking for Goldust, but Goldust has split.

Thoughts: This was pretty ballsy for 1996. This would set up a feud between these two.

4.5/10 ranking overall.
