- The player controls one of four characters, Claire, Moira, Benny and Natalia, who are trying to survive and escape from the island. In order to progress, the protagonists must solve puzzles while exploring, scavenge for items and use weapons such as crowbars, knives, pistols, shotguns, machine guns and rocket launchers to fight off horrific zombies and mutants.
- During gameplay and in cinematic scenes, there are depictions of realistic violence and blood effects that stain the environment when characters are injured or killed.
- One scene shows a character stabbing at his arm repeatedly with blood spurting profusely (the actual stabbing happens offscreen) and another scene shows a hand flying across the screen after being dismembered off-camera.
- In retrospect, the depictions of realistic violence present in the game, in forms of killing, maiming and/or causing other serious injury to its humanoid characters is not sadistic, cruel and/or abhorrent.
Profanity

- There is coarse language present in the game dialogue, most of it is spoken by 20-year old girl. Fuck is said 25 times, once with prefix mother-. Shit is used frequently as well. This is the first Resident Evil installment to frequently use "fuck" in its dialogue, as other games kept the usage of the word to a minimum (as in 5 and 6) or not at all (first four installments and the remake).

- 'Resident Evil: Revelations 2' is an action survival-horror game set in a deserted island. The protagonists are trying to escape from an island full of zombies and mutant. One of the monsters, Glasps, are especially frightening and creepy as they appear invisible to player, but floating in air and emitting a bee-like buzzing and being in close proximity to them results in instant death.
- Due to 'Resident Evil: Revelations 2"s depiction of violence and inclusion of coarse language, it is recommended for players aged 18 and above.
