Interesting.

The first match is Steve Austin versus Mankind. Faarooq faces Savio Vega. Doug Furnas and Phil LaFon take on Leif Cassidy and Bob Holly. The show ends with Jim Ross interviewing new WWF Champion Sid. The high rating is for the great Austin versus Mankind match. The rest of the show is forgettable.

Steve Austin vs Mankind is a gem.

Live from New Haven, CT

Your hosts are Vince McMahon, Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin Vs Mankind (W/Paul Bearer)

Austin wins by DQ after The Executioner interferes. The Undertaker runs down to make the save. Austin shows his gratitude with a clothesline to The Undertaker. Austin backs down when Undertaker goes to get back in the ring. Holy crap! What a brawl between these two. These two beat each other senseless all over the place. It was fast, intense, and very exciting. definitely one of the most intense brawls I've ever seen. They seemed to be testing the waters for a face turn for Austin as well here. It worked because Austin would turn face a few months later.

***1/2

Farooq (W/Clarence Mason) Vs Savio Vega

Sunny comes out to introduce Farooq. Ahmed Johnson is shown watching in the crowd. Farooq wins due to outside interference. Ahmed Johnson runs out and clears the ring. I wish he had cleared the ring sooner! I wouldn't have had to endure so much of this mediocre match.

*1/2

Ahmed says he was laying in bed for 5 months because of Farooq's assault. Ahmed says Farooq's gonna pay and Farooq's going down. Ahmed actually gets a loud "You're going down" chant going.

Doug Furnas & Phillip Lafon Vs Leif Cassidy & Bob Holly

Furnas and Lafon win. If I can give this match any compliments, it would be the suplexes.

*1/2

Next, Jim Ross interviews the new WWF Champion, Sycho Sid. He says he has no remorse over attacking Jose Lothario because he became part of the game by putting himself on the apron. JR asks if Sid will grant Shawn Michaels a rematch. Sid says he'll give Shawn a rematch, and he'll beat him again. He's the master and ruler of the world. He says the people wanted him back, and helped him become champion. For them, he'll be a fighting champion. He says Bret Hart's comeback in the ring will end because he has to face him. He stumbles on his lines and says "bretman" in lieu of hit-man.

Thoughts: Sid delivered solid and intense promos, but he had the tendency to stumble on his lines, or say something stupid. This is one of those moments. Sid was very much a tweener.

After the fun match between Austin and Mankind, the show goes downhill. If you can seek out Austin and Mankind, do so. The rest is forgettable stuff.

5/10 overall.
