"Breaking Free: The Shale Rock Revolution" is an excellent and very informative video that everyone should take the time to view so they can be better informed on the controversial issues of fracking and horizontal drilling.
The video is professionally done with great videos, art, and sound so it is very easy to watch and listen to without the DVD itself causing disruptions. Part of the storyline are several statements of residents in Texas and North Dakota, including an Indian Reservation in the Badlands, who have seen their lifestyle improve dramatically because the drilling companies came to their towns.
The video also presents CEOs of fracking companies and energy research scientists and environmentalists who talk about the pros and cons of fracking. One point made with strong, compelling arguments is that the water supply is completely safe form harm when the drilling pipes go through the aquifer. And the reasons is clearly demonstrated on film.
There are, of course, risks associated with the waste generated by fracking that is first kept in above ground storage tanks, which could leak, and then moved to a waste disposal site by trucks which can always overturn. A good argument is made that states need to enact strong regulations to deal with fracking wastes.
The video also talks about the wear and tear caused to local roads and highways used by trucks transporting waste or natural gas, and the risks involved in transporting natural gas in tankers via the railroads. They suggest transporting by underground pipelines would be much safer and save our roads.
The film, now available for digital download, rental or purchase from amazon.com, was produced by Chris Faulkner, CEO of Breitling Energy of Dallas, Texas, who also wrote a book on fracking entitled book "The Fracking Truth: America's Energy Revolution – The Inside, Untold Story." The DVD was directed by Robin Bossert.
No matter what you think about fracking you should watch this video if you entertain any hope of having an informed opinion. Informative and potentially mind-changing.
