It’s been over two years since we last reported on the film but today the creators of Moontrap – the Bruce Campbell starring cult sci-fi feature – have announced that Moontrap Target Earth, the long-awaited sequel, will be released in the Us on February 7th 2017.
Moontrap Target Earth comes from Robert Dyke and Tex Ragsdale, the director and writer of the original film and stars indie film favorite Sarah Butler (I Spit on Your Grave remake), stars with Damon Dayoub (Stitchers) and Charles Shaughnessy (The Nanny).
Moontrap Target Earth continues to explore the concept of an ancient Earth civilization that mastered space travel and colonized the Moon. “We always believed that there were more stories that could be told in the ‘Moontrap Universe’ we created,” said writer Tex Ragsdale. Director Robert Dyke added, “It just took us a lot longer than we anticipated to agree on one.”

Every day seems to bring a new release celebrating the anniversary of some well known movie from the past. Moontrap may not be that well known, but Olive Films is honoring the Walter Koenig/Bruce Campbell sci-fi horror flick’s 25th anniversary with its first ever DVD/Blu-ray release.
It would probably be fair to call Moontrap an obscure film these days since it has never been released on DVD or Blu-ray (at least in the Us) since its brief theatrical run and video release all the way back in 1989. VHS and gray market DVDs have been the only way to see the movie until now.
The best way to describe Moontrap to the uninitiated is to imagine a Stuart Gordon-esque splicing of Alien and Hardware.
Synopsis:
During a routine flight, two veteran space shuttle pilots ("Star Trek’s" Walter Koenig and Evil Dead’s Bruce Campbell) discover an...
