- Rachel meets a famous television writer, whose eccentric personality catches Rachel off guard. Meanwhile, Sam and Mercedes deal with the pressure of commitment as their careers take off, and the time has finally come for Blaine's big showcase with June Dolloway at NYADA. - We open with Sam telling Mercedes that he's auditioning to be a model for a company that does "manscaping." He'd like to be half-naked on a bus and the two discuss her jealousy of him being around other models.
Rachel tells the gang a scriptwriter from the network named Mary will be staying with her. Mary will be attempting to learn about Rachel in order to write her a show. Mary arrives and seems more neurotic than Rachel was expecting. She is shooting for a pretty dreary show.
Blaine once again asks June if Kurt can be in the showcase. She turns him down and warns him that crossing her will be bad for his career. She leaves and Blaine sings "All of Me. "As he finishes Kurt shows up and Blaine finally tells him June doesn't want him in the showcase. Kurt is furious that he lied.
Sam is battling temptation being surrounded by so many female models. The photographer in charge of the audition is an attractive woman named Charlie. Sam sings "Girls On Film" as he auditions. Charlie invites him back later for a one-on-one audition.
Both Sam and Mercedes are told by their friends they should break up before she goes on tour. They resist.
Rachel's friends are concerned Mary is way too "out there" and none of them trust her ability to write something that will be authentic.
Rachel has the gang read through Mary's script. It includes gratuitous social media jargon and some pretty wild choices for the characters' personal lives. Rachel tells them she's going to have a talk with Mary about not agreeing with what's on paper.
Blaine apologizes to Kurt. Kurt seems to understand why Blaine lied to him and pledges to trust him going forward.
Rachel tells Mary her lead character doesn't seem enough like her. Rachel decides to show Mary her "essence" by singing "Glitter In The Air." Afterwards Mary tells Rachel that she'll try to make a happier show, but she doesn't think it will ever get made.
Charlie isn't happy with Sam's vibe during the private shoot. She clears the room of assistants and they talk while she takes pics. She starts to hit on him pretty brazenly and points out they're all alone and nobody will know what they do. She kisses him.
Sam comes home and immediately tells Mercedes he cheated on her. He says after Charlie kissed him, he burst into tears and left. Mercedes isn't upset, but doesn't think she'll be ready to have sex until she's 30 and doesn't want to make him wait. She thinks he'll remain faithful, but that will eventually make him resent her. Mercedes thinks the right thing is for them to break up.
Blaine and June sing "No Time At All" at the showcase. The crowd wants an encore. Blaine stands up and asks Kurt to join him for a duet. June's face falls. Blaine and Kurt sing "American Boy" and include June for the end. It goes well and afterwards June tells Blaine he proved her wrong.
Rachel and the gang love Mary's new version. Rachel thinks it's her dream role.
Sam gets his ad on the side of bus. But afterward he says he's planning to return home. He wants a slower pace and thinks the gang is going to be scattered once again. They all sing "Pompeii."
Rachel's phone rings. It's the network, telling her they loved the script and want to make it into a pilot. She's going to Los Angeles.
