Without revealing spoilers, "Old Dog, New Tricks" is a wonderfully positive, fun and touching episode with great music, amazing guest stars and writing that brings that the enjoyment of Glee during seasons 1 and 2. There's fun, fighting, romance, angst and a couple of very touching scenes.
The entire cast was fantastic & the characterizations were spot-on! In fact, Sam was back to the best of Sam (as in season 2). I've never cared much for Samcedes, but this was terrific. And Artie stole the show in a couple of places. Loved Kurt, Rachel & Santana together, as always, through the ups and downs of friendship. And Kurt and Blaine were not highlighted, but was wonderfully supportive.
Kurt was highlighted in this episode, written by Chris Colfer; Colfer advised that he wrote about the character with whom he was most familiar. That being said, I didn't feel that Kurt was the sole focus, as we got a lot of almost everyone. VERY well done; this episode was one of the two Fox network submissions for Glee for the Primetime Emmys, which was quite a compliment to a novice scriptwriter.
