The house is being outfitted with cameras and a crew bustles around. Will seems nervous he'll look stupid. Gunnar and Zoey beg off being part of it. Gunnar gets a call that Juliette wants to talk about co-writes for her new album. Gunnar tells Zoey about Juliette and Jeff. He doesn't know what to do. Zoey says she would want to know, but then says she doesn't know. Quandary, to tell or not to tell.
Teddy comes to pick up the girls before Rayna leaves. Maddie wants to spend the night with Deacon while Rayna is away. Teddy is annoyed. Rayna doesn't want to talk about it now. Maddie pushes. Teddy relents.

Rayna meets Luke at the hospital. He has only minor injuries-- bruised ribs, scrapes-- but two others died and other were injured. He says he will go back but he doesn't know when. He admits to being shaken up pretty good. He says all he wants now is some sugar. They kiss.
The show begins to shoot and Will kicks things off by singing a new love song to Layla. She is touched and the producers are loving it.

Maddie works on homework at Deacon's. Maddie asks about whether he considered marrying Rayna and he is saved by his burnt lasagna.
Rayna helps Luke leave the hospital. He's sad about missing the concert, which was going to be simulcast it around the world. She suggests doing the show at the local base and simulcasting that. He's not sure it can be pulled together quickly and if he has a whole show in him with his injuries. She says she does and knows others will be interested in performing. He likes the idea. She asks Juliette to participate and she says she's in.
The next morning at Deacon's Maddie asks to spend another night and continues asking questions, like where was he the night she was born. He says he was on the road and points out that back then both she and Rayna deserved better than the man he was back then.
Everyone arrives at Fort Campbell and meets with the troops. Luke sees that Rayna asked Juliette to come and is concerned and says she doesn't deserve to be a part of it and she overhears it and walks away.
Back at Layla-Will-ville they are not convincing the producer's with their kiss. He's annoyed they have to keep doing takes. Will says he's done for the day and stalks off.
Rayna and Luke bicker about Juliette. Rayna says she's a good performer and the military loves her and he asks if this concert was for him or just to promote her label. She gets angry and says she cares about the troops too but mostly she did it for him and it's his show and he can do what he wants.
Luke happens to overhear Juliette talking to an injured soldier. She explains her dad was in the Army and was killed in a training mission when she was four and so she understands about the sacrifices the troops make and she has great memories of him. Luke has a change of heart and asks Juliette to not only play for the troops tomorrow but to duet with him on "Don't Put Dirt on My Grave Just Yet."
Deacon goes to a meeting at a sober house. He explains what he said to Maddie but he realizes that the truth is he wasn't on the road, he was on the road to hell. He was at this sober house when he got the news the woman he loved with was pregnant with another man's child so he went out and got drunk and probably slept with some no-name floozy. He says he has to live with that but doesn't have to tell his daughter that.
Will works out his frustration at the gym and is hit on by a personal trainer named Tony. Tony gives him his card and Will crumples it up in his pocket.
Gunnar tries to tell Avery about Juliette and Jeff but then Zoey busts in and says she just got a job as Juliette's newest back up singer. She pulls Gunnar away to celebrate and says he can't tell Avery now because they're both going to be working with Juliette.
Scarlett waits tables at the Bluebird and there's lots of new faces. She goes to wait on a table and they recognize her, apologize about her meltdown they saw on the web, and wonder if she's just a waitress now which is a shame since she was so good. She goes to get their order but is clearly shaken.
Luke and Rayna talk and he explains that things may have seemed weird between them because when the bomb went off, after he thought about his kids he thought about her and he realizes that he loves her and he's not sure she feels the same way. She tells him she's all in and they kiss.

She thanks him.

Zoey goes to see Scarlett and they both share news. Zoey tells Scarlett about the Juliette gig and Scarlett says she's happy for her. Scarlett says she's leaving Nashville and starting fresh somewhere else.
Kellie Pickler plays for the troops and as she does Deacon asks Teddy about the night Maddie was born. He said he raised a hell of a girl and he wants to know what he missed.Magnanimously, he does and says he fell in love with her the moment he saw her and it was a love he'd never known before.
Jeff approaches Juliette backstage again and tries to pitch her again on coming back to Edgehill and basically threatens that he will tell Avery about them if she doesn't.
At the concert Rayna announces she's playing with Maddie and Daphne. Maddie sees Deacon at the side of the stage and asks, since he co-wrote the song they're playing, could he join them. Rayna, a little uncomfortable asks him to come out. He does and the four of them play a lovely version of "A Life's That Good." Both Luke and Teddy seem very uncomfortable watching this tableau.
