With plenty of genre efforts already made, it would seem very few original ideas are left in the ground to unearth for zombie films yet the concept of mixing together ‘The Raid: Redemption’ with ‘Fight Club’ is certainly an intriguing mixture. Nowhere near as unique or creative as it could’ve been but still highly enjoyable nonetheless, this mashup from emerging Taiwanese genre director Joe Chien has a lot to like due to that.
Arriving at an ordinary apartment building, police officer Andy and his team, Captain Ma and Li Wei find the rumors are true in that they’ve been unleashed into a zombie outbreak. Trying to fight their way through the horde of zombies inside, several other survivors Jenny and David also manage to stay alive inside the building and together fight their way to safety, only to see several years later that the zombie...

When you think of Hong Kong cinema, horror movies usually aren’t what comes to mind; you’d probably think of operatic storytelling and exaggerated action sequences with extraordinary visuals. With Joe Chien’s Zombie Fight Club, you actually get all this and more in one bloated mess of a film that’s as insane as its title. Chien’s […]...

Stars: Andy On, Jessica Cambensy, Michael Wong, Terence Yin, Abby Fung, Jack Kao, Han Chang, Heng-yin Chou, Sharon Hsu, Philip Ng, Chi Zhang, Kwok Cheung Tsang, Candy Ka-Man Yuen | Written and Directed by Joe Chien
A sequel to Joe Chien’s zombie horror-cum-torture porn flick, Zombie 108, Zombie Fight Club sees Andy (Andy On) and Jessica (Jessica Cambensy) – real originality in naming your characters there – escaping a zombie overrun apartment block in the corner of near-future devastated Taipei city (as seen in the original film). In the midst of this zombie holocaust, with all social structures on the brink of collapse, contaminated drugs cause hordes of rappers and strippers to become infected and join the aggressive flesheaters. When a Swat team arrives on the scene, it seems the cavalry have arrived, but they only want the stash of drug cash…
2012′s Zombie 108 was something of a cause célèbre within the horror community.

Film4 Frightfest 2015
The full line-up for this year's Film4 Frightfest was announced today, with more films than ever set to thrill horror fans who visit the Vue West End cinema in London's Leicester Square. From haunting folk tale The Hallow to abduction thriller Never Let Go, sinister family drama Estranged and gruesome revenge saga Banjo, there's lots to look forward to. Post apocalyptic mayhem is promised by Turbo Kid, there's a new taken on Frankenstein by Bernard Rose, and Saw fans will be excited about James Wan's Demonic.
A Discovery strand at the Prince Charles Cinema connects the festival to its roots, but as it has sold out for several years in a row, the smaller venue really isn't sufficient on its own. Joe Chien's Zombie Fight Club is among the Discovery highlights, along with Perry Blackshear's super-creepy They Look Like People and acclaimed comic doc [film]Future Shock!

If the first rule of Zombie Fight Club is that you don't talk about Zombie Fight Club, then you'll have to excuse us because we're in a rule-breaking mood today. There are some things you simply can't not talk about. And this is one of them.
Check out the trailer for Joe Chen's Taiwanese zombie effort, which premieres at Cannes and appears to have been inspired by those undead death matches The Governor would host back in the happy-go-lucky Woodbury days of "The Walking Dead"!
Andy On, Michael Wong, and Terence Yin star.

A memo to Andy On: It may be time to consider new management. On takes the lead in Taiwanese director Joe Chien's sophomore film, Zombie Fight Club, which features (as you might expect) a zombie fight club. Somewhat surprising given how overwhelmingly bad Chien's previous Zombie 108 was, however, is that not only did they land Andy On for this but also Philip Ng, another bright rising talent when it comes to Hong Kong screen fighters who can actually act. Bluntly, On and Ng are both far better than this has any hope of being and the fact that both continue to do this sort of stuff is just baffling.Anyway ... cops, slave traders, drug traffickers and an underground zombie fighting ring. It's super pulpy...
