George is Actually Funny the cast does not have Chemistry
ena-sanguinetti15 April 2014
The concept is a good one. The jokes could work, however.. it doesn't. George Lopez is actually really funny and real. However, the mother I HATE Her, she is not funny, just mean. She does not seam to care about George and I get it, she is suppose to be the mean mother/grandmother George grew up with. It just doesn't work. She should show her meanness should come out of love, instead it comes out as hate towards him and his son. I think if the concept was with Danny Trejo trying to help George raise his child after a divorce maybe. However, the chemistry of the actors with each other is not there. I am such a big fan I hate to give him 3 stars. If they get rid of the mother maybe it stands a chance.

Too Raunchy for a Family Sitcom
mideleon24 March 2014
I'm not opposed to raunchy or edgy humor. I love "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and "Archer," two shows which are proudly aggressive in their adult humor. The problem with "Saint George" is that it feels like a traditional 3-camera, live audience family sitcom where someone decided to graft on the most unfunny "adult" jokes into the script even though they just don't fit the style of the show. (Actually, they wouldn't fit ANY show because they are just so immature and lame.)

If George Lopez wanted to do something different than his previous show, he should have made this a single camera show like "Louie" and work with writers who know that style. Or he could have gone the "Modern Family" route, emphasizing the multicultural family. But if he wants to save his current show with the least amount of work, he would do well to ditch the childish "adult" humor and simply embrace the family-safe sitcom style that this show really wants to be. It also appears to be what Lopez's fans want.

I like George Lopez. but wow! the mother......shake my head
preston-meza22 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I like this show. Even with G Lopez trying hard to make jokes, I hate the mother. She is annoying, rude and just brings down the show. They need to get rid of her. I really wanna keep watching the show. I really do. But the mother just needs to go. In every episode she is a witch and just needs to be killed off. Danny Trejo is not that great either. But sometimes funny. The ex wife...pretty annoying and typical white woman. But, the mom needs to go. I hope this show doesn't get a second season with the mom.

If you watch the show, you will see. The mother needs to go away. The uncle needs to smarten up along with his kid and the wife needs to stop condoning the white woman stereotype.

Supporting actors just not cutting it.
ben_jimenez19 May 2014
I gave this show a chance but it just keeps disappointing me. I give George credit for representing the Hispanic community and trying to put a show together that shows the culture of how Hispanics live (sort of), but damn most of the jokes are not funny, and none of the supporting actors lines are funny at all, even the actor playing the kid sucks. Is as if no body gets what the show is supposed to be about and is having trouble making their characters believable. It's just not working. On the George Lopez Show George had some great supporting actors like Constance Marie would could deliver the lines and draw you into their character. Not on this show, it's like all the dialog is coming from the same person. I don't know if it's the writers or the actors that need to change, but something does. I really see no need for the ex wife or the kid, since the show really is not delivering any family oriented content, and why do some of the episodes remind me of a George Lopez Show episode, just remixed. I don't know if this show will make it, if next season is like this, I won't be watching it. I'll just watch my reruns of the George Lopez Show.

Absolutely Horrible Show!
naheels22 April 2014
I Love George Lopez and if he'll come up with another show I'll definitely give it a chance. But this show is just awful and not remotely amusing! I LOATHE that mother character! Her lines are so badly written, she comes across as the most hateful person who is just violent and mean!! She is vile and I can not stomach watching her! None of the characters have ANY chemistry! And I agree with the previous comments, the content seems to be going for some kind of shock value; but they are not pulling it off! Don't try to "fix" this show; it's already left a bad impression. Rather be smart and know when to step away, find creative writers and a cast who has chemistry. For the love of George's reputation take this off the air and give him another show!!

Feels like an unfunny version of the George Lopez Show.
molinagrn13 November 2019
Same thing just remove Carmen, have Angie and Max be acted by generic white people, add a gangster uncle and it feels similar. At the time, I thought it was good but after reflecting on the years, the show is boring and uninteresting. The humor isn't that great and is pretty dull, especially from the ex-wife and son. Plus I think the Mexican family view here is done more poorly with the fact half of the time I can't get or laugh at their antics unlike I did with George with Benny. Might as well give this one a pass.

Poor choice in mother character.
nanettemeau12 September 2022
I think they should have hired someone else to play the mother of George Lopez in this supposed to be funny comedy show. In actuality she comes across as a very hostile stranger. And it's not funny. It's actually a bit surprising that he chose this horrible actress who is given hostile racist comments throughout the whole series. Even to her own grandson. And then calling her ex-daughter-in-law a white w****. It just wasn't funny the whole thing. I think there could have been better choices. Also the character Junior comes across as extremely annoying and not funny at all. George Lopez should have looked a little bit beyond hiring his buddies or friends in real life and put in funnier characters. Also I would have gone lighter on the mother scene. The hostel rageful racist angry not funny stupid comments and actually very highly abusive comments to her own son George lopez.

An amazing show
shugochara85658 May 2014
Saint George is amazing. Those who don't like it don't seem to realize that Saint George actually truly represents a Mexican family. It is not fake most Mexican families such as my own and many of my friends have a similar family member to each of the characters. This show and others are not the reason for the current generations problems it's the parents faults. The parents are the ones who allow them what they can or can't watch so why blame a show which you could easily block from the TV. And the show never said it was made for children, George Lopez's live comedy acts are more mature than the show it's not meant for children. Therefore it makes the perfect show for an older audience.

Hilarious! +++++++++
lacek2721 June 2014
Great show and many new talents in it. I loved every minute so far, the jokes are on the spot and not boring same old ones like we have seen it before with other shows. Actors/Actresses are all great, including Danny Trejo. Actually he is surprisingly funny, since I have only seen his not so great action movies, I did not know what to expect. George Lopez the main character is also excellent, he really fits to his role. Also the mother of George, played by Olga Merediz. Her character is soooo mean that it makes it even more funny. Overall it is well worth watching and I am hooked to it, hopefully it will live to see another season or more. Highly recommended!

This show bites!
bayuncasoyyo18 March 2014
The show is not realistic at all and not that funny! George Lopez is brilliant but this show is a total waste of network space! I don't understand how he can go from a really funny sitcom to this? Its so dry and boring! I like George and Jenn Lyon but this show is dumb! I don't care for the dude that plays his cousin. He is not a good actor! The kid that plays his son. Is he even alive??? I liked Benny as his mother on George Lopez rather than the woman who plays his mother on this show! I know the show has suggestive content in it but texting a picture of a private body part on the show? That's not good TV. Whoever thought incorporating something that stupid and disgusting in the script was OK needs a reality check! George Lopez...You're slipping!

EXTREMELY disappointed and DISGUSTED!
okjordy14 March 2014
Started to watch Episode #1 and turned it off when it got to the part where George's friend emails his p___s to someone and then shows the picture of it to George.

Although the warnings at the beginning of the show said "suggestive content" and "language", we surely did not expect such foul/obscene actions. We are thinking of letting the sponsors know of our decision not to watch the show, or use their products.

We HOPED that this show would be more in line with his previous show "George Lopez", where he was a family man working in a airplane parts manufacturing shop...WITHOUT the extremely heavy suggestive content and language.

George, we're very disappointed and disgusted in the fact that you've lowered yourself and your values to this degree. We can now understand why our younger generations are the way they are, where they curse in front of children or use suggestive sexual advances to young children. And as two of your "previous viewers", it's not as though we are prudes or are not about the same age as yourself. It's because WE have moral standards to uphold. Old time comedians never used this tactic to gain notoriety or laughs, yet they were hilarious and well though of (e.g., Red Skelton, Red Buttons, Danny Kaye, Carol Burnett, etc.).

Love this show!
chucklayton30 May 2014
Typical for George Lopez. Just what his fans expect and want to see. I hope they give this show a chance to become known before they try to cancel it. Much like his previous sitcom, this show will build a following. My wife is Mexican and knowing her family and watching this show is hilarious. And Danny Trejo doing comedy? Its just plain funny. Jenn Lyon is not only beautiful, but a great pick to play his ex. I really couldn't imagine someone other than Constance Marie playing his wife, but Jenn plays it perfectly. And Olga fits being George's mother so well its hard to believe she is only 5 years older than George. Keep it on the air!!! Thanks again George for making my family laugh.
