While there are many romantic period dramas that viewers absolutely adore, not a single title can compete with Bridgerton. The show about 8 siblings navigating the world of love and intrigue in a highly fictionalized Regency London left everyone hot and heavy after the steamy season 1, and stressed out after the love triangle of season 2.
Now that season 3 has almost arrived, viewers are ready to celebrate the friends-to-lovers trope represented by Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington. The first part of the season premieres tomorrow, May 16. To remind yourself of how the relationship between Colin and Penelope has progressed over the years, check out their key moments below.
The Very First Dance (S1E1)
There was nothing sweeter than the very first dance we saw between the two characters. Colin was kind and noble to save Penelope from Cressida Cowper's bullying, taking her to the floor when no one else would. The...

After debuting early last weekend, Universal’s The Fall Guy expanded to 78 overseas markets during its sophomore session, adding $25.4M for a running total of $36.9M at the international box office. That’s in line with Bullet Train and above The Lost City at the same point in release. Globally, the David Leitch-directed action romance is at $65.4M.
This is a fun picture with positive scores and exits so there’s hope for some legs here and playability throughout upcoming holidays. Still, an expensive movie, it came in slightly below projections domestically.
Internationally, the UK was a No. 1 debut with a strong $4.4M from 1,400 screens. Odeon was the top-performing circuit, and Everyman registered a 9% share, 3.1 points higher than their average for the year. Performance across 51 IMAX screens made up 7.6% of the total. The weekend result is well above Bullet Train and The Lost City. Monday is a holiday.
Mexico opened to $2.5M at No.

Hideo Kojima is hailed as one of the most visionary minds in the gaming fraternity. The individual is responsible for Metal Gear Solid, made during the game director’s successful tenure at Konami. The title is a trailblazer in the action-adventure stealth genre, considered revolutionary.
Often listed among some of the most well-crafted video games ever to come out, surprisingly, Hideo Kojima has a regret about it. While it may appear minor, had the visionary been able to execute his initial thought, one of the title’s most distinguished moments would have been altered by quite some margin.

With a career that spans 38 years and counting, Hideo Kojima is indeed one of the most prominent names in the gaming world. Kojima-san gave the world one of the most popular stealth game franchises, Metal Gear Solid, which first came out all the way back in 1987. The games got contagiously popular as he redefined the stealth genre, over the guns-blazing approach like the other games of that period.

Matthew McConaughey is opening up about how being a father has impacted his career.

Matthew recently explained how he believes fatherhood has made him a better actor.

“Having children I know has made me a better artist and has made me a better actor, because kids see things for the first time all the time. Their questions are innocent,” he told People. “I become a better storyteller because I have kids, meaning, I come home from work on something like True Detective, and my 4-year-old kid goes, ‘What’d you do today?’ I cannot tell them what the show’s really about, it’s not age-appropriate. So I have to go into a parable for them.”
The star described how the nature of his projects made him get creative around his children.

"You're like a fluffy piece of cotton candy with legs!" Netflix has revealed an official trailer for Thelma the Unicorn, an animated musical comedy from filmmakers Jared Hess & Lynn Wang. Made by Mikros Animation and Netflix Animation, along with Buzzfeed Studios, Matchbox Hero, Scholastic Entertainment. Thelma is a small-time pony who dreams of becoming a glamorous music star. In a moment of fate, Thelma is transformed into a unicorn and she instantly rises to global stardom, but this new life of fame comes at a cost. This animated comedy stars singer / songwriter Brittany Howard as the voice of Thelma, along with Will Forte, Jemaine Clement, Edi Patterson, Maliaka Mitchell, Ally Dixon, Fred Armisen, Zach Galifianakis, and Jon Heder. This looks way, way too similar to the Sing series of movies, with singing animals competing in competitions. Though I do like the plot in this being inspired by being fake (on...

The Oscar winner sat down with People to celebrate the publication’s 50th anniversary, during which he talked through some of his most iconic roles, including his stint as the rom-com heartthrob. He recalled meeting his co-star before production began on the film.
“I remember we met on the Paramount lot — I believe it was the time — and those casting sort of meeting couches, especially for rom-coms, you want to see the chemistry between the two leads,” he said. “You want to see how the jive is. We’re not reading through the script. We’re not reading lines.”
He continued, “Immediately, we were comfortable with each other, and we jacked with each other, and we busted each other’s chops, and we laughed a lot.

English singer-songwriter Liam Gallagher has lashed out at longtime rivals Blur as he claimed that their music is “for posh brats.”
The former Oasis star responded to the Britpop group’s frontman Damon Albarn, 56, who revealed several Americans have tried to claim songwriting credits for ‘Song 2’, reports ‘Female First UK’.
During Blur’s pre-Coachella warm-up gig at the Fox Theater Pomona in California, this week, Damon said: “Because of the nature of American law, if someone gets a lawyer … they can come quite a long way with absolutely no grounds. Someone else this year – not only is it that person who’s convinced they’d written it, but there was another person who was convinced. ‘Despicable Me 4’ CinemaCon Footage: Gru Pulls Off ‘Mission: Impossible’ Heist Armed With Diaper Bag
Gru, the recovering supervillain turned huggable and lovable dad, is back in action.
Universal premiered a new sequence from “Despicable Me 4,” the latest installment in the studio and its partner Illumination’s long-running animated franchise, at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Wednesday. It featured an aspiring villainess (Joey King) as well as a new addition to the Gru family — Gru Jr., who bears a strong resemblance to his beak-nosed namesake — as they attempted a “Mission: Impossible” style heist of a heavily fortified castle. The only problem is Gru’s assistants, the Minions, brought the wrong equipment. Instead of his gear and gadgets, he is armed with only a diaper bag. That means Gru is left to deal with lasers, guards and a vicious honey badger with only diaper rash cream, baby bottles and a pacifier to protect him. It doesn’t help that Gru Jr. keeps crawling around, inadvertently setting off booby traps.

Avatar: The Last Airbender seems to have been cursed with disappointing adaptations, as its viewers have been subjected to the same not once but twice. The recent Netflix adaptation, although better than the 2010 film, has been getting a fair deal of criticism from all directions. From the way the characters were written to the storytelling, to even the VFX, nothing met the audience’s expectations.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Some fans went as far as to accuse the cast and the creators of not taking their responsibilities seriously enough. Straying away from the source material quite a lot, the latest adaption has resulted in fans getting upset, to say the least.

A busy holdover weekend for wide studio releases was led by the trio of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Kung Fu Panda 4 and Dune: Part Two. And, in a soaring performance, Hayao Miyazaki’s Oscar winner The Boy and the Heron swooped into China helping the market set a new Qingming holiday record.
Meanwhile, Best Picture Oscar winner Oppenheimer, boosted by its release in Japan, has now become Christopher Nolan’s biggest movie ever at the international box office.
Before we dig into all of that, there was also fresh blood in some overseas areas with Disney/20th Century Studios’ The First Omen debuting to $9.1M from 43 markets (about 76% of the offshore landscape and notably not including France and Germany which go next weekend). This is about as expected. The global bow is $17.5M.
Latin America leans in on horror and the prequel performed best in Mexico where it opened No.

The Devs from Remedy Entertainment behind Alan Wake 2 held an Ama (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit a few days back speaking in length about the title and answering fan questions. Nathalie Jankie, Mission Designer, Marko Muikku, Gameplay Lead, and John Crossland, Lead Character Artist answered some of the best fan questions.
The developers also mentioned that the team is working on expansions for Alan Wake 2, namely Night Springs and The Lake House. The official Alan Wake Reddit group is almost 60,000 members strong and the Devs mentioned the Ama was being held to celebrate going past the 50,000 mark. One of those questions centered around one of the missions from Alan Wake 2, titled We Sing.

Timothée Chalamet’s magical, musical candyman is coming to Max.
“Wonka” will make its streaming debut exclusively on Max on Friday, March 8, Warner Bros. Discovery announced Friday.
The movie — featuring Chalamet in the title role — tells the origin story of Willy Wonka, following him as a young man as he becomes “the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker,” per the studio. The family film co-stars Olivia Colman, Keegan-Michael Key and Hugh Grant as an Oompa-Loompa.
“Wonka” has surpassed $600 million at the global box office, on an estimated $125 million budget. The film is director Paul King’s highest-grossing film, surpassing 2014’s “Paddington” and its 2017 sequel. The international box office was generally muted this weekend, save for in China which ushered in the Year of the Dragon on Saturday, and with it the lucrative Chinese New Year moviegoing period. According to early figures from Maoyan, the first two days of Spring Festival 2024 amassed Rmb 2.44B ($339M), just a touch below the comparable days in 2023.
Although Maoyan’s Pegasus 2 was tops on Saturday, the first day of the holiday, ultimately it was the Jia Ling Cfg/Alibaba inspirational film Yolo that won the weekend with an estimated Rmb 804M ($112M/comScore has it slightly lower at $110.4M) across the two-day stretch. IMAX accounted for $3.6M of that. It often happens that the day-one winner is overtaken on day two.

The NFL defending champion Kansas City Chiefs will play against the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl on Feb. 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, as both teams emerged victorious from the league’s Championship Sunday.
The Chiefs won, 17-10, in a hard-fought battle against the home team Baltimore Ravens to advance to the Big Game. Tight end Travis Kelce (you may have heard of him in some other context) had a huge game, catching 11 passes for 116 yards and scoring the game’s first touchdown. Kelce set an NFL post-season record for receptions during the game.
In the day’s second game, the Detroit Lions got an early lead, scoring the game’s first two touchdowns, and completely shut out the San Francisco 49ers in the first quarter. The tide started turning in the third quarter. That’s when the California-based team came alive and tied the game, erasing a 17-point lead.

Christmas weekend at the box office was looking potentially disastrous for some movies, with no fewer than nine wide releases over the extended four-day period. Turns out that some movies did far better than others, and Warner Bros. had an especially good weekend. Read on for the weekend box office report.
Considering that 2018’s “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa, grossed $1.1 billion worldwide after an opening weekend of $67.9 million in 4,125 theaters, there were hopes that its sequel “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” might be one of the weekend’s big movies.

Warner Bros./DC’s “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is leading the box office with a $40 million 4-day box office opening. But with middling audience reception, the final installment of the DC Extended Universe isn’t showing as much promise as other films farther down the charts.
“Aquaman 2” is already behind its $1 billion-plus 2018 predecessor, which earned a 3-day opening of $67.8 million, as well as the $47 million 3-day opening of the Marvel Studios bomb “The Marvels.”
On top of that, while the first “Aquaman” earned an A- on CinemaScore, the sequel earned a B, the same grade as Warner Bros.’ summer DC flop “The Flash.” Like that film, “Aquaman” carries a $200 million-plus budget, the highest of any new release this holiday season.
It’s an ignominious end to the once successful Dceu, as Warner Bros. released three other films in the series this year — “Shazam: Fury of the Gods,” “The Flash...

‘Twas the weekend before Christmas and all through the theaters, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” was the box office leader.
The latest and final entry in the current iteration of the DC Comics universe got off to a less-than-splashy start with $13.7 million on opening day across 3,706 locations — getting a boost from showtimes in premium large format auditoriums like Imax. It’s a downtick from the original “Aquaman,” which posted a $27.7 million opening day around the holidays in 2018.
The writing’s been on the wall for a while with the Warner Bros. release, with the studio seemingly having moved on as James Gunn prepares his reboot of DC Comics properties with “Superman: Legacy.” Even star Jason Momoa has stated that “it’s not looking too good” for his potential future as the King of Atlantis — hardly the encouraging rhetoric usually seen in a promotional junket. Reviews have been pretty negative for the sequel,...

Chris Meledandri’s Illumination animation house has had a boatload of hits from Despicable Me and Minions to 2023’s global smash The Super Mario Bros Movie. But in between, this underrated (in terms of awards) producer of delightful and genuinely funny toons creates new franchises by embracing originals such as The Secret Life of Pets and Sing, winners both in my book. Now, just in time for the holidays, comes Migration, about a family of ducks on the adventure of a lifetime. “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is one of four movies opening in theaters over the weekend. Which of the new releases will sink and which will swim at the box office?
Jason Momoa’s “Aquaman” sequel is expected to float to the top of charts in North America over fellow newcomers: Universal and Illumination’s animated “Migration,” Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell’s romantic comedy “Anyone but You” and A24’s sports drama “The Iron Claw.” But the Warner Bros. comic book installment faces choppy waters. It’s targeting a soft $35 million to $40 million in its four-day debut (including Monday’s Christmas Day), which could make it the latest catastrophe in a terrible year for superhero movies.
December releases aren’t known to generate big opening weekends and instead tend to enjoy staying power through the new year. For example, 2018’s “Aquaman” collected an unspectacular $67 million to start but powered...

You know the drill. Every streaming service takes certain movies and TV shows off their platform each month as new titles join their libraries. It can be a bit infuriating to realize the show you've putting off watching for months is now about to become unavailable, but it also gives you the best excuse to finally watch it — a ticking clock.
With the holidays approaching, many of us will be stuck indoors with family members desperately looking for a distraction from the awful political talk. What better way to stop the awkward conversation than by suggesting a fantastic movie or TV show before it leaves Netflix? Sure, you can watch a Christmas classic or even a spirited holiday horror movie. But that's predictable and dull. One of the biggest hits of the year will soon be making its way to Netflix. The streaming service has announced that "The Super Mario Bros. The film is already available on Peacock, but, quite frankly, not nearly as many people subscribe to that service, so this is going to open it up to a much wider audience.

It took in a downright incredible $1.36 billion at the box office earlier this year, doing far better than most anyone expected the movie to do. As of 12:01 a.m. on November 9, 2023, the SAG-AFTRA strike is officially over. The actors’ guild has come to terms with TV and film studios, ending a 118-day work stoppage.
The agreement still needs to be ratified by SAG-AFTRA’s national board, but the hardest work has been done. Actors will get pay increases, protections from AI, and streaming participation bonuses, and the studios will be able to turn their production pipelines back on.
“We have arrived at a contract that will enable SAG-AFTRA members from every category to build sustainable careers,” the union wrote in an email. “Many thousands of performers now and into the future will benefit from this work.”
For the acting community, there are plenty of lessons to be learned from the longest labor stoppage in SAG-AFTRA history. In other industries, the takeaways are a bit murkier. As actors, writers, and Hollywood studios argued over new terms,...

Let’s-a go! “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” Universal and Illumination’s spring box office smash, is landing on Netflix in time for the holidays.
It will debut on the streaming service on Dec. 3, months after grossing $1.36 billion in global ticket sales. The animated adventure will still be available on Peacock, the platform owned by NBCUniversal, where it premiered in August. Universal struck a licensing deal to let “Mario” play on Netflix, which has far more subscribers than Peacock.
A collaboration between Universal, Illumination and Nintendo, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” became a four-quadrant hit and the first movie of the year to cross the $1 billion mark. (“Barbie” has since joined the club.) It’s the second-highest-grossing movie of the year behind “Barbie” ($1.44 billion) as well as the most successful video game adaptation of all time. It’s also the biggest movie ever from Illumination, the animation empire behind “Despicable Me” and its “Minion” spinoffs,...

Long before Taylor Swift went into the woods for Folklore, she desperately wanted out of them. In the sixth music video she released from 2014’s 1989, she’s running through the forest in a blue dress, escaping a pack of wolves and magical roots that long to twist and curl around her. She’s tackling every kind of climate: crawling through the mud in the pouring rain; pausing in a blizzard to witness the icicles scattered across her arms; standing barefoot in a wildfire, covered in soot. When it ends, the weather is finally calm,...
