Steven Spielberg is undoubtedly one of the greatest voices in filmmaking today. Since the ’70s, he has proven himself to be a very competent director who can dabble in any filmmaking genre with ease. Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Raiders of The Lost Ark, Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park, The Color Purple, etc. are examples of his complete mastery over varied genres.
Melinda Dillon and Cary Guffey in Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Spielberg tasted success early in his career with Jaws and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. When he decided to put a comedic spin on the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, many, including John Wayne, warned him that it would backfire on him. The underwhelming reception of the film led to a big realization of the mistakes that he made.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory was way ahead of other action-adventure games of its time. It was a multi-level game that focused on the element of stealth. Even though all Splinter Cell games focused on stealth, Chaos Theory introduced significant changes to stealth mechanics.
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
This game set the benchmark for other stealth games. As such, many would agree that Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is one the best Ubisoft title out there. However, a developer at Ubisoft believes that Far Cry 2 is better than Chaos Theory. Even though Far Cry 2 was not as successful as Chaos Theory, the lead level designer has his own reasons.

X-Men ’97 opened to positive reviews on Disney+ and many critics hailed it as a nostalgic throwback to the original X-Men: The Animated Series. Just before its release, the showrunner Beau DeMayo exited the series for some unspecified reason, starting a whole new rumor mill on the internet. When he was part of the show, DeMayo revealed that Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films would have never happened if it was not for the original X-Men animated series.

The original show ran from 1992 to 1997 and garnered a whole generation of kids and young adults as fans of the show. The new series picks up from the events of the finale of X-Men: The Animated Series and brings back most of the original cast.

Brazil’s giant media conglom Globo and Spain’s Atresmedia International, the overseas arm of top commercial broadcaster Atresmedia, have renewed their strategic pact for another five years, in which Atresmedia delivers Globo telenovelas, series and mini-series across Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market.
“Since we launched the agreement five years ago, we have witnessed how well the audience of Atreseries and Atresplayer welcomed Globo’s content, which every month occupies very significant positions in the audience rankings and perfectly complements our original offer,” said Mar Martínez-Raposo, director of Atresmedia International.
Key Brazilian productions comprising some 500 hours a year via Atresmedia include “A Life to Die For,” “Doomed,” “The Hunter,” “Time After Time” and “Ambitious Women,” many of which premiere exclusively on Atreseries and Atresplayer.

Editor’s note: Jesse Andrews is author of the novel Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, which is one of five books pulled from the library shelves of high schools within the purview of Tallahassee, Florida-based Leon County Schools superintendent Rock Hanna, after the Leon County chapter of the conservative group Moms for Liberty petitioned the schools to remove the book because of the frank depiction of sex and gender identity issues. The others include Push, the Sapphire-penned book that inspired the film Precious; Doomed by Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk; Lucky by Alice Sebold; and Dead End by Jason Meyer. Still being scrutinized is an autobiography of tennis great Billie Jean King, because it discusses her sexuality. This has been an ongoing theme precipitated by policies passed by Gov. Ron DeSantis and legislative Republicans. DeSantis is running for president and probably figured to ride his brawl with Disney into the White House,...

Rumours are rife about who’ll be cast in Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Fantastic Four” movie, marking Hollywood’s fourth attempt to bring the iconic superhero quartet to the big screen.
One of those reports indicated that Mila Kunis would be playing an uncharacteristic role in the film: Thing, a.k.a. Ben Grimm, portrayed in earlier film iterations of the franchise by Michael Chiklis and Jamie Bell.
The rumour was sparked after she was spotted having lunch with director Matt Shakman, who’s been tapped to helm the new “Fantastic Four” film for Marvel.

The tagline for The Asylum’s latest film Monster Armageddon reads “Welcome to the Multiverse”. But the film actually has less in common with Marvel or DC’s concept of shared universes than it does with Toho’s monster mashes like Destroy All Monsters and Godzilla Final Wars.
As the film opens an unidentified object heading toward Earth takes out the Iss. At the same time a US Navy ship under the command of Ltc Madoyln Webb is attacked and sunk by a giant, one might even say mega, piranha. Could there be a connection? Of course, there is.

Jesse Jo Stark is embracing duality to the fullest extent. On the singer’s accompanying music video to her latest single — which arrives alongside her newly-released debut studio album, Doomed — she gives in to the push and pull of love and hate, serenity and storms, and highs and lows.
Directed by Bethany Vargas, the “Lipstick” video splits itself between bright, white settings and haunted dark rooms as Stark purges her inner heartache. “The song is about the duality of love,” she shared in a statement. “Relieves yer pain, yet causes you more.

A handful of Hollywood Critics Association (Hca) members, including Variety’s senior awards editor Clayton Davis and two other Variety journalists, have resigned from the fledgling awards body over the expulsion of a critic who raised questions about the group’s financial status, fundraising distribution and operations — then took her complaints public.
An individual with knowledge of the resignations told TheWrap that Davis along with senior artisans editor Jazz Tangcay and red carpet reporter Angelique Jackson all resigned from the Hca. Kristen Lopez, a TV editor with IndieWire, also announced on Twitter that she resigned from the group.
The dustup has created a rift both within and without the Hca, which evolved from the Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society. The org, now with more than 100 members, was created in 2016 as a place to include bloggers, YouTubers and other multimedia journalists not affiliated with mainstream outlets — a group that’s...
