On top of this game being an open world game, there are zones past the handmade world that are procedurally generated, meaning the area in Mad Max that can be explored is essentially infinite.
In a part of the game, an HEV suit (Half Life Series) can be spotted lying in the sand. A box lays nearby with the number 3 written in blood on it, referencing Valves inability to count to 3.
Was originally announced for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 at E3 2013, but those versions were later cancelled to focus on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions. Avalanche Studios, the devs, said the game had gone through vision changes since its announcement, and that the newer systems allowed them to more fully realize their vision for the game.

At one point in the game, whilst exploring The Dune Region, you come across an airplane sticking out of the sand with skeletons standing on the wings saluting. This is an homage the Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome(1985)
