When The Byrds arrived in the UK for the first time in August 1965, they were hyped as the spearhead of an American Invasion. “The US Beatles!” headlines screamed as their lush cover of Bob Dylan’s “Mr Tambourine Man” topped the charts and their similarly titled debut album broke big on both sides of the pond.
Witnesses of their rammed half-hour show of multi-harmonied folk pop at London’s Flamingo Club were left unimpressed – “Flopsville!” declared Melody Maker – but in the end, the hype won out. Within two years The Byrds would stamp their mark on pop history, laying the foundations for folk rock with their renowned cover of Pete Seeger’s “Turn! Turn! Turn!” and their third album Fifth Dimension’s psychedelic mainstay “Eight Miles High”. And they contained at least one future musical icon in their midst. Saturday Night Live paid tribute to weird little flutes in a hilarious sketch, and it's kinda a bop? During the show, Pete Davidson and Chris Redd were joined by musical guest Kid Cudi for a sketch that still has me scratching my head and laughing. As the trio talked about bringing their flutes with them everywhere they went, including at the club and the airport, it became increasingly clear that they might have an unhealthy obsession with the musical instrument. As if that skit couldn't get any weirder, actor Timothée Chalamet made a quick cameo to play his own flute.
It may seem completely random to have Chalamet join the skit, but the actor and Cudi actually go way back. Chalamet has been huge fan of the rapper since he was a teenager, and he previously told James Corden that Cudi inspired him to be an artist. In addition to...

We are going to start this off with a declaration. I Want The Dceu To Succeed! I really do. I may not be considered a DC guy, but I like a lot of their properties and their heroes are topnotch. In my dreams, all of these superhero movies, both Marvel and DC, are headed to an Amalgam crossover type movie series. Just putting it out there. Hopefully, the right people are reading this and it will happen.
Ok, back on track. According to Latino Review, a source close the Dceu let them know that we could be treated to not just one, not just two, but three of our favorite Green Lanterns from Earth. Remember that this is just a rumor for right now, but Latino Review has been solid with their predictions. Here is what they had to say:

Television’s biggest night made history on Sunday, Sept. 20. Hosted by Andy Samberg (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), the Emmys named Viola Davis the first black woman to win best lead actress in a drama for her work on “How to Get Away With Murder.” “In my dreams and visions, I seemed to see a line, and on the other side of that line were green fields, and lovely flowers, and beautiful white ladies, who stretched out their arms to me over the line, but I couldn’t reach them no-how,” said Davis, quoting Harriet Tubman in her acceptance speech. “Let me tell you something,” she continued, “the only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity. You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there.” Fellow nominee Taraji P. Henson (“Empire”) was teary-eyed and rose to her feet to applaud the win. Jeffrey Tambor won best lead actor in a comedy,...

Andy Samberg more than proved his ability to host a major awards show, but it was Veep and Game of Thrones — as well as Viola Davis and Jeffrey Tambor — who really made history at the 67th annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

"If Veep is about one thing, it's about hope," said the show's creator Armando Ianucci. "The hope that anyone in America, no matter what their race or creed,...

via Giphy Viola Davis made history at the Emmys on Sunday night when she became the first black woman to win the award for outstanding lead actress in a drama series - and her reaction to hearing her name called was pretty priceless. The 50-year-old actress, who was honored for her role in How to Get Away With Murder, was simply shocked and elated upon hearing her name, so much so that her husband, Julius Tennon, grabbed her arm to help her gain composure. Viola went on to give an inspiring acceptance speech, first quoting Harriet Tubman ("In my dreams and visions, I seemed to see a line, and on the other side of that line were green fields, and lovely flowers, and beautiful white ladies, who stretched out their arms to me over the line, but I couldn't reach them no-how") then thanking fellow actresses of color, including Taraji P.
